The sweet bedrooms we designed for our Canadian cottage build. They may be several years old, but I still think they are ceeewwwwttttt Design @allisonwillson Photography @patrickbiller by @allisonwillson
Amongst greats, and so very happy to be here! Thank you to House & Home for including me and my firm in this amazing list of talented designers and friends! This honour is shared with my amazing team at AWD, our wonderful clients, the talented and skilled trades and artisans who execute years of collaborative design... the list could go on and on! It takes a literal team of people to pull any of this off ❤️ To @houseandhomemag @lyndareevesdesign and @stacybegg thank you for including us for the fourth year in a row! I’ve said it before and I will say it again… you were my first publication, my first cover and my first chance at this beautiful honour of Print. There’s something magical about holding that in your hand, and it never gets old. Keeping print alive and supporting Canadian Designers is a wonderful thing to be a part of, so thank you again! To the talented New Guard, @montanaburnettdesign @ashleymontgomerydesign and @gilliansegaldesign CONGRATULATIONS! You all inspire me so much! You have also been generous and supportive of me as well, and it’s a reflection of your good hearts, alongside your great talent. Patrick, thank you for putting our work into beautiful images, being a great friend and also playing such a huge role in the way in which we get here. Love you ❤️ by @allisonwillson
I think about this ensuite often… weird? Maybe a bit, but I do! It’s so warm and feminine with the blush walls, but also masculine with our tailored floor detail and walnut vanity. The mirror was a real “makes the space” antique find from our friends @ribbehegeandazevedo and the @waterworks plumbing give a nice vintage nod. Have a great week Photography @patrickbiller Design @allisonwillson by @allisonwillson
I’ve learned a lot about authenticity throughout my career, especially over the last several years as we built our Farm. The process of designing this build was really special, but also drove me a little crazy lol 🤪 The goal was to make sure every part of it reflected who we are and how we wanted to feel here. Figuring all of that out took a lot of time, research and thought (aka…. obsessing). It’s now five years later, and I’m really proud of what we built, how we enjoy it with our closest people, and the attention it has received. I would have never anticipated any of it, but it’s still so heart warming to me when there is a positive response. It has been published in @housebeautiful three times, online with @archdigest , in hard copy with @betapluspublishing and featured with @joonloloi @loloirugs . I’m so grateful that the project I love most is one of the reasons we keep getting calls and opportunities. Reinventing this feeling for others is truly a gift. Lucky lucky us ❤️ With that, we have a lot on the go and in the works, and I’m going to try to get better at sharing things! Looking forward to a new “school year” ahead with great people and projects! Pick up the @housebeautiful Incredible Kitchens issue to check out all of the amazing spaces that we are thrilled to hang with - and thank you again to House Beautiful for including us! Pantry, scullery, servery… whatever you’re calling it, they have become a pretty standard kitchen must have for clients! Which is SO fun because often these little spaces get a quirky detail or a moody hit… something that maybe felt like too much for the kitchen itself. We have six different ones in the works right now, and even though some may not exist for years… they are sure to be a good time 😉 Design @allisonwillson Photography @patrickbiller by @allisonwillson
Good, ol fashioned ways… I’m torn guys, tooooorrrrrnnnn. There is such a huge push towards AI and tools and renderings, and honestly I do totally get it and also see the benefit. But sometimes I think about my farm, and my architect, and how absolutely magical it was to sit down with him and draw this house with a pencil and paper. It was so beautiful I framed most of it as artwork. He actually kind of made me draw my furniture in with a scale because he wanted me to show him I could 😆 Challenge, accepted. He was old and brilliant and so stuck in his ways that you just couldn’t help but respect him for it. He had earned that buy creating brilliant things for people, based on talent, experience and trust. I’m learning how to evolve, because I do see how amazing it is. But sometimes I just think about Jim, and how he would have said hell no. And that also makes me smile. Cottage Foyer, but make it all season and practical Our clients beautiful cottage in the Kawarthas doubles as their ski chalet, so it was top of mind to design it while considering all seasons. This front Foyer gets light from East and West, so it could handle being a little “cozier”. Cladding it in white oak not only adds that organic layer, but is a bit more forgiving with the dings and scuffs a Foyer can get. Lastly, who doesn’t love a round center table 🥰 Design @allisonwillson Photography @patrickbiller by @allisonwillson
Thank you @housebeautiful for including our Mudroom in your recent Renovations Issue! This Mudroom needed to be bomb proof… and after years of smashing snow off ski boots, loading in groceries, dogs, bikes, trains, planes and automobiles 🤪 it has stood the test! Paris will linger in my head and heart for maybe ever ❤️ by @allisonwillson
A window bench, a reading nook, an extra bed, a place to nap, a place to play…. For many reasons we love this little spot in Gracie’s room. Architecturally, it hides the two angled ceiling portions that flank her dormer window. This not only makes the room feel bigger, but also creates some sweet storage/hiding places 🥰 Design @allisonwillson Photography @patrickbiller by @allisonwillson
Throwing it back today to this house we did, collectively over 10+ years 🙃 This wonderful client sent me a cute little message yesterday and it got me thinking about their beautiful house and the slightly edgy take on traditional we created for them. A tragic fire a few years back allowed us to reimagine the spaces we had not yet designed for them. Lovely spaces for lovely people. A little round up below! Reflecting on 2025, and feeling a lot of gratitude. What an amazing year of building - growing a wonderful team, renovating a new office, expanding our Portfolio, starting exciting new projects and seeing our work out in the world. I feel so lucky to do this job. I’m starting the new year with many goals, and although most of them are personal, there are so many exciting things ahead for AWD! Thank you to everybody who played a part in our projects, and to the people in my life who reminded me how important it is to stop and celebrate. Wishing all of you the best year ahead ❤️ by @allisonwillson
