A brotherhood that supports and empowers men impacted by the justice system and young men at risk of being impacted.
“Until we are all free” ✊🏽
POSTS STORIES REELS
There are over 2.1 million citizens currently incarcerated in the US justice system, making US prisons the most inhabited in any nation on Earth. All Kings believes that: ⚜️America’s prison problem is a masculinity problem. 9 out of 10 people incarcerated are men. Social norms glorify male violence, which leads to incarceration. Young men lack fathers and positive male role models. Prisons reinforce toxic patriarchal norms. To survive the brutality of prison, men learn violence. Disassociation, aggression, and struggles for power are reinforced. ⚜️Upon release, men lack emotional support. Men are socialized not to talk about feelings, and three times less likely to seek therapy than women. And so the cycle of addiction and violence continues. ⚜️Half of formerly incarcerated men will use controlled substances with two weeks of release. 83% of men released will be arrested within 9 years. All Kings seeks to change that through brotherhood. #allkings #menswork #prisonreform #untilweareallfree by @allkings.ny
To really appreciate the work that we do, we invite you to participate. All Kings builds peer-led healing networks that support emotional well-being and leadership in NYC communities most impacted by poverty, violence, and incarceration. Though that is our focus, all men are welcome because, though our circumstances and experiences may differ, we share the same emotions. Want to get involved? Sign up for our next Quest, donate to help keep this powerful work alive, or, if you're in the NYC area, join us for our annual All Kings Gala this Thursday. We will keep doing this work “until we are all free,” physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. by @allkings.ny
The All Kings Model: ⚜️Quest Retreats: Each man is initiated into the community through a “rites of passage” retreat— an intensive weekend that introduces men to our values, our community, and the basics of emotional awareness. ⚜️”Work” Circles: Weekly circles help men integrate new awareness and ways of being. Our circles allow for on-going support and connection. These circles support men in addressing emotional challenges as they arrive. ⚜️Peer-led Mentorship: New men receive 1-on-1 peer coaching, available in person and by phone. We use advancements in personal development to help men achieve their goals. ⚜️Leadership Training: Men in the community are trained as credible facilitators to lead our circles and retreats. Our leadership model prioritizes integrity, vulnerability, and accountability. #allkings #menswork #prisonreform #untilweareallfree by @allkings.ny
