Bagels and black coffee: an iconic combo. For Lox in a Box, the connection goes way back.

What started with four bagels and filter coffee has grown into a full coffee offering. From hot cups to iced drinks and everything in between. It’s been pretty special to see coffee become such a big part of the Lox experience, and we’re very happy to be along for the ride.

Elaine Lee
Meet our judge Elaine Lee, Founder of Pourtraits Coffee Roasters and a WCC-Certified Brewers Cup Judge. From part-time barista to World Judge, she has judged national Brewers Cup competitions across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, and this year judged at the World Brewers Cup in Brussels. Don’t let the RBF fool you, she’s just an introvert who loves a good one-on-one chat. Her advice: walk in with an open mind, enjoy the brewdown, and have fun!

Alwin Lau
Meet our judge Alwin Lau, Founder & Roaster of Bloom Coffee (@bloom.withcoffee). 12 years in coffee, a 2019 Singapore National Brewers Cup competitor, and a Sensory Judge at the 2025 and 2026 National Brewers Cup Open Service Finals. He’s looking for overall balance, where no single attribute dominates. His advice: trust yourself, taste and adjust your brews, and have lots of fun. Follow him at @alwinwinn

Meet our judge Jon, Head of Bar at Plain Vanilla. He runs the bar programme, including training, QC and R&D (which means drinking a lot of beverages). He has helped organise the Singapore Aeropress Champs twice and competed in its preliminary rounds twice too. He’s looking for a balanced cup from a simple recipe anyone can replicate. His message to competitors: breathe, don’t take it too seriously, and have fun! by @allpressespressosg

Some of the best ideas happen by accident.

Lox in a Box started with a patch of grass and a passing comment: what if people could take their favourite Lox bagel outside and enjoy it on the grass? Fast forward, and Lox in a Box is now slinging their top-selling bagel at multiple sites across Sydney, having built a name for themselves with their generous hospitality and quality eats.
