One of my themes for this year has been outgrowing hesitation, and iykyk my biggest roadblock to painting and actually enjoying it has been literal square footage. Sooo I made the move and secured my first art studio! I’m so excited to start creating again, in whatever form that takes.

drew, 2024
acrylic on canvas

initially intended to be completed by my 25th birthday, the age at which your frontal lobe finishes developing, the purpose of this piece was to finally show myself some appreciation (since i’ve never been my own subject) and highlight how much i’ve evolved. i ended up going down a completely different path than i intended while painting this, which coincidentally parallels life (for most people) and the message i was trying to convey all along. things often don’t go as planned, but in the end they turn out just as they are supposed to.. and oftentimes it turns out even better.
