“Great is Thy Faithfulness” always reminds me that God’s goodness is often seen most clearly when we look back. So many times we expect certain outcomes, certain answers, or certain catches yet God is teaching us to trust Him, not just the results we hope for.

This hymn carries such deep theological truth
On how God’s character never changes. His mercy, provision, and faithfulness are steady whether the nets feel full or empty. Looking back over life, I can see that His faithfulness was never dependent on my success, but on His unchanging nature.

Today I may have caught a big one, but the greater reminder is that God has been faithful through every season, and He will continue to be.

She wasn’t alone.

This 47-inch giant was shadowing a wolf pack of fish all cut from the same caliber. Watching the entire group light up and compete for one bait was the kind of encounter you don’t forget.

The kayak is just another tool for the chase. Knowing when to leave it is part of the game.

The heat had me stepping out to cool off, but it also gave me a chance to work the shoreline. Some of my biggest fish have come with my feet in the water, not sitting in the seat.

Wading opens up casting angles you can’t get from the kayak, lets you dissect high percentage ambush spots, and keeps your shadow/presence from blowing up the strike zone before your bait gets there. Every little advantage matters when you’re hunting quality fish.

Big bass don’t get big by making mistakes. The details put them in the net. 🐷

Timing and alignment matter. You can do everything right and still find yourself in conditions that aren’t helping you produce results. That’s when experience teaches you an important lesson. You don’t have to stay where the water isn’t right.

Sometimes the best decision is to adjust. Sometimes it’s to reposition. And sometimes it’s to leave a spot that is no longer holding fish.

Life and relationships work much the same way. We don’t control every circumstance we’re born into or every challenge we face, but we do have a choice in what we continue to accept.

Growth often begins the moment we realize that staying isn’t our only option.

Don’t worry about what others have done to you. Remember what Jesus has already done for you. grace grace.

I’m all about wearing camo, blending your vessel against the background, and deep, long casts. Your best defense mechanism against being seen by big fish is wind. It’s difficult to control your vessel in high-wind conditions, but if you mentally prepare for drifts with limited motor control, you will see many more big fish willing to bite.

Can you stand the wind? @quinnstagram_444 would say. “Don’t say the “W” when we have the shock boat out! 🌬️

Hand-carved wood and resin baits both have their strengths.

The giant wooden topwaters I’ve fished have some of the best action and natural buoyancy I’ve ever seen. They just seem to come alive on the water. The downside is durability, I’ve had hook anchors rip out after enough abuse and from battling big fish.

Resin baits are much tougher and hold up better over time, but they’re heavier and don’t quite have the same natural float and characteristics as wood.

For me, wood wins on action. Resin wins on durability. Both have a place in the tackle box.
