Being apart of Immigrants Lead Boston ‘24 cohort has been nothing short of transformative. It wasn’t in my bingo cards this year to receive not one but two recognitions from the Mayors Office and City Councilor @councilor_pepen .

This program has poured so much into me, reigniting and inspiring something I’ve lost for a long time and today I can proudly say that I’ve found my voice again and I’m more driven than ever to continue stepping fully into my purpose.

As a first generation immigrant, it can feel isolating at times. But through this program, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with an incredible network of immigrant leaders from all the across the world, each with their unique stories and perspectives.

This year is VERY personal. Not just in the “new year, new me” way, but in the “I have stepped into a new dimension” kind of way. It’s as if I’ve quantum leaped—one moment, I was fighting battles I never spoke of, and the next, I was walking in the victories I’ve prayed for.

I share this because I know I’m not the only one who has walked through a season of pruning, of shedding, of stretching. If you’re in that space where everything feels uncertain, trust me when I say: there is something greater on the other side of this. What you want, wants you too. Read that again!

Mark my words: LITERALLY Just the beginning 🥂 Happy February 1st , Happy Black History Month! & Cheers to Love.

Mama I made it 🎉 😭 But in all seriousness, when I think about the power of impact, I see how it shapes not just our world but also the legacy we leave behind. For me, participating in Immigrants Lead Boston x @bosimmigrants was about elevating my voice and ensuring that I have the knowledge, skills, and tools to lead with intention.

I created a job and legacy for myself that opened doors to work with and connect with people and businesses from all walks of life. Many times, I wasn’t privy to the jargon used or didn’t fully understand the conversations or perspectives they identified with. Immigrants Lead Boston helped me dig deeper, equipping me with the tools to feel more confident in these spaces, engage meaningfully, and understand policy, community, and the power we hold as constituents.

It reminded me that our experiences are our own—ours to embrace, accept, and use as a tool to create real change and build bridges for those who come after us.

Last year, I applied for a program and completely forgot about it. To my surprise, months later, I received an email that the waitlist had opened, and there was a spot for me.

Fast forward four months, and I’ve officially completed the Bank of America Institute at Cornell University Women’s Entrepreneurship Certificate Program. This has been transformative to say the least and I am eager to incorporate everything I’ve learned into my small business at @abmi.media .

Whilst working towards completing this program, I realized how much I missed school, learning and the thrill of working towards not only accomplishing something but doing it to completion.

The past decade of my life has been Hmmph a ride (a good and bad one at times) Taking the scenic route, I’ve experienced and done a lot and would take nothing away from my experience. But if being truthful with self, I haven’t saw anything through to its completion. Especially in my many attempts to finish school and work towards earning my degree. My business has been the most constant thing and so this certificate for me as I continue to navigate this season of my life is confirmation that I have the ability to see things through.

I’ve since been working towards my degree for the umpteen time ( 2025 graduate is that you?) and just really being intentional about all things. My walk with God, relationships, conversations, business, proximity, and most importantly my future. I am filled with gratitude and anticipation for what’s to come.
