There’s something grounding about working with clay 😊

As a potter, you learn to slow down, focus on what’s in front of you and give yourself time to simply make. The rhythm of wedging, centring, shaping and refining can become a mindful part of your day.

“We centre the clay, but the clay centres us.” - Mary Caroline Richards

You don’t always need complicated techniques to create interesting patterns in clay 🖌️

Simple pottery tools can transform a plain surface into something full of texture and detail. Experiment with lines, curves, repeated marks and carved designs to see how different tools change the look of your piece.

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the creativity, craftsmanship and traditions that make South African artistry so unique 🇿🇦

Craft is about more than the finished piece. It’s about the hands that make it, the skills that are shared, and the traditions that continue to inspire each new generation of makers.

Here’s to celebrating the art of making and the creativity that is uniquely our own. Happy Heritage Day from All Things Clay Supplies 💛 by @allthingsclay_potterysupplies

Pottery is hands-on, and your hands deserve some care too 🤲

Potter’s Hand Rescue Bar was developed by local potter, Bianca Bernstein, after experiencing the dryness, peeling, and cracking that can come with working regularly with clay, water, and raw materials.

Made with beeswax, shea butter, and a proprietary blend of nourishing, ethically sourced oils, it helps moisturise dry hands while creating a protective barrier.

🌿 All-natural ingredients
🌿 Preservative-free
🌿 Fragrance-free
🌿 70g travel-friendly tin

A little extra care for the hands that do the creating 🏺 by @allthingsclay_potterysupplies
