Queer LA is growing rapidly. Every week there are new events, new spaces, and new ways to connect. It can be hard to keep up, and with so much happening, it’s important that our community’s voices don’t get lost.

At New Wave, we’re moving in a direction that’s less about throwing the wildest party and more about creating spaces that lead to genuine, warm, lasting connection. Community where people feel like they belong and genuinely care for one another.

To do that well, we want to hear from you. 🫵🏼

The State of Queer LA 2026 is a community survey designed to better understand what queer Angelenos are looking for, what’s working, what’s missing, and what we want the future of our community to look like.

Once the survey closes, we’ll share the key findings with everyone.

it’s pride month 🏳️‍🌈

here’s an excerpt from my notes app:

i’m sorry to anyone who has ever been made to feel shame for who they are. to anyone who has had to hide parts of themselves from the people who were supposed to love them the most. to those who have lived double lives just to protect a version of themselves that was only ever allowed to be half-lived.

i’m sorry if you learned what conditional love felt like before you ever experienced unconditional love. i’m sorry if you were taught that love, faith, family, culture, or belonging were things you had to earn by denying parts of yourself. i’m sorry if you spent years shrinking, translating, or editing yourself just to be accepted. none of that should have ever been your burden to carry.

i want you to know that you are uniquely and divinely you. you are not here by accident. you are here with purpose, exactly as you are.

pride matters because this is the reality for so many of us every single day, myself included. so many queer people are working ten times harder than their straight counterparts just to move through the world safely, authentically, and with dignity. especially my intersectional SWANA, Desi, and Muslim friends. <3

i wouldn’t give up my queerness for anything. there is nothing more BEAUTIFUL than queer love, sapphic love, gay love, T4T love!!!!!!!!

and there is nothing more beautiful than queer community and friendship…. the people who hold you close not because they have to, but because they choose to, because they see you, because they understand you, because they remind you that you never had to carry it all alone.

my queerness saved me from a life that was never meant for me. it guided me toward my people, my purpose, and, ultimately, myself. it taught me to be bigger, bolder and freer
than i could have ever imagined!
