Had a great week in Carmel/Monterey and San Francisco in my beloved California, across the country!

I got to spend a lot of time with myself and friends new and old, all while learning more about what it means to be me, 2 decades and 2 years into my life. I’m nowhere near done with my journey of self-discovery (I expect I never will be), but it feels good to have finally moved forward on it after feeling stuck for some time. Here’s to another 22 years and a whole lot of self-love! taken in California USA by @ally_oho

Long sappy post sorry :(

Summer was too short. In the first week, I went to chicago with my family and went to a new and exciting location everyday. Then, I got to go to California to visit all of my friends that I hadn’t seen for three years. With only one week, we crammed three year’s worth of experiences into the precious little time we had. My friends back home in California mean the world to me, and I am beyond lucky to have them in my life. Without them, I don’t know how or even if I would have made it this far. Three days after having to say goodbye to all but one of them, I got to spend a magical day in Disneyland with that special friend of mine before having to return to the corn fields of Ohio. My time in California will be a treasured memory that won’t ever be forgotten. Weeks after returning home, I enjoyed my final high school band camp, this time as the drum major. I can’t think of a better way to have begun the school year or a better way to have ended my perfect summer.

It’s hard to live life far away from the people that you love, but that makes the precious time that you do get to spend with them that much more meaningful. I miss you Mountain House. :( taken in California by @ally_oho

What a crazy month it’s been shaping up to be!! It’s only Cinco de Mayo, and SO much has already happened. May 1st: I turned 17 and went to eat at an actual physical restaurant for just about the first time since quarantine started (yay vaccination!). May 2nd: my robotics team and I become state champions by winning with the best robot AND the inspire award, which is something no Ohio FTC team has ever done before. May 3rd: not much. May 4th: final concert of the school year. May 5th: I learn that I managed to get FIRST CHAIR PERCUSSION AAAAAAND DRUM MAJOR OF THE MARCHING BAND for my senior year!!

If the rest of the month shapes up to be this jam-packed with craziness, I don’t know how I’ll make it. Thank you to my team, my band, and everyone else that has ever supported me during this turbulent and challenging time. Without that support, it would’ve been impossible to excel as much as I have managed to. 🧡🧡🧡 by @ally_oho
