What started as a photo shoot decoy (completely unsuspecting bc we literally do this all the time lol) turned into Reese getting asked to HOCO! 🥹💗 Not Kristine and I stalling for the longesttttttt though…

If you know me, you know I was NOT a dog person. 😂 Like… at all. But God has a funny way of changing our hearts. After dog-sitting for a season, something in me completely changed. 🥹

My daughter Reese has been asking for a dog practically since she came out of the womb, and I never had any interest… until this past year. We searched and searched for the right dog, and because Reese is so incredibly compassionate, she wanted almost every dog we saw. 😂

We had prayed for a very specific dollar amount to be able to get a dog we thought was our dog. We miraculously received the money… only to find out that dog had JUST been taken. But God knew what He was doing…

After a few ups, downs, and even some prophetic words and visions from people we trust, God finally asked us, “If you could choose every detail—breed, size, color, everything—what would that dog look like?” Reese described Story almost exactly.

Reese found her at nearly midnight right before my 40th birthday.

And the sweetest part?

The exact amount of $ we had prayed for ended up being the amount needed for Story + her car repairs. And we even had some sweet friends and family help us with the car and birthday gifts so there was EXTRA!! 😭😭🤯

Because God is intentional. He cares about the details. He is a good Father who loves to give good gifts. And Story has already been quite a story. 🤍

40. 🤍

I just wept happy tears this morning as I paused and thought about all I’ve had the privilege of experiencing…
the people God has placed in my life, the lessons He’s taught me, the doors He’s opened, the ones He’s closed, and even the seasons I didn’t understand until much later.

I’ve learned that my life isn’t measured by how much I accomplish, but by how deeply I love, how faithfully I show up, and how many lives I get the privilege of being connected to along the way.

And when I look around at my life, I feel incredibly, overwhelminglyyyyyy blessed… like God why me. Why are you this good to ME?

To my family, my friends, the people who have prayed for me, encouraged me, laughed with me, cried with me, believed in me, challenged me, celebrated me, and loved me through every version of myself…thank you. You are some of the greatest gifts God has ever given me!

All I really wanted for my 40th was to visit the retro Pizza Hut near me and have a little moment of nostalgia… and I love that I wasn’t alone in wanting to experience this. 🥹🍕❤️ love you sweet friends!

Let this be a reminder that the tiny things you think your kids won’t care about - are the BIG core memories! Ex: personal pan 🍕 …with my BookIt! Maybe I have pizza hit to thank for my love of reading lol …

Also… why did I go into my daughter’s closet looking for something to wear and realize her entire wardrobe is basically a 90s time capsule?😂

Feeling incredibly grateful for these people, these memories, and most of all, for all the Lord has done in 40 years.
