I’m so incredibly thankful and grateful to everyone who supported me throughout my homecoming fundraiser for NAMI! I’m so proud of all the other candidates and everyone who participated, helping make this experience so special. It was another fun and meaningful opportunity to come together, spread awareness about mental health, and raise money for an important cause. hii! my name allyssa weeks i am a senior at maryville highschool and i am running for homecoming court representing NAMI(National alliance of mental illness). I chose to support and represent this foundation because it hits so close to home for many of us. Many teenagers starting at the age of 14 show signs of mental health such as, depression anxiety and many others. Mental health can be a extremely challenging problem to deal with constantly. People struggle every day silently with this, due to the fear of judgement or not knowing how to express themselves. You matter, you are so much more than your thoughts. woke up today with a heavy heart as another year passes as today marks the 5th year you’ve been gone. i hate you can be here with me to watch me shape and grow into a better person everyday. i’m glad your no longer in pain and i hope you are living your best life in heaven. not a day goes bye your not thought of. grief is like an ocean it never ends, but it always changes. grieving changes so much over time, at first it can feel very intense and overwhelming but as time goes on, it shapes into a quieter feeling of sadness with acceptance. you make a really pretty sunset and i’m grateful i am able to see it. i love you always and one day we will reunite in another life. by @allyssa_weeks_
