Rosacea and visible facial veins can be stubborn. A 2025 study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology by Dr. Shaked Menashe looked at how Alma Harmony AFT (IPL) performs for vascular rosacea and telangiectasias. The study look at 82 patients with vascular rosacea, each receiving 4 IPL treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. The results: 69.5% of patients saw 75% or greater clearance, the remaining patients saw 51–75% improvement 95.1% reported being highly satisfied with their outcome. CO2 gives some of the best results in aesthetics. Post care is where clinics lose them. The 3 mistakes I see most: 1. Letting the skin dry out. New cells only travel on a moist surface. Keep it sealed with a thin layer of plain ointment. If it shines, it's enough. 2. Picking, and retinol too soon. That flake is new skin. Nothing active until it stops stinging. 3. ☀️ Sun damage on the scalp can extend beyond the spots we can see. Actinic keratoses are rough, scaly areas caused by cumulative UV exposure. When multiple lesions occur across an area of sun-damaged skin, this is often called “field cancerisation”. It does not mean the entire area is cancer, but some actinic keratoses can progress to squamous cell carcinoma. This video shows laser-assisted photodynamic therapy (PDT) on the scalp at our clinic. Fractional laser prepares the skin before a light-sensitive treatment is applied and activated with light, helping target abnormal cells across the treatment area. This is one treatment option for selected patients following a medical assessment.
