Hi, hello! I’d like to reintroduce myself (and a big welcome if you’re new here) ♡

This past year took me places I never expected, and it’s been such a rewarding journey. After my Puteri Indonesia journey, I found myself spending most of my days in front of my laptop, deep in creative mode, while also dipping my toes into the world of acting.

Somewhere along the way, I realised I’ve been missing my adventurous side. The part of me that tries new things, explores, and moves a little outside of routine, especially when life starts to feel stagnant or creativity feels stuck. So this year, I’m choosing to reconnect with that side of myself.

Because really, what is life if not for exploring? There’s so much I want to learn, try, and experience, and I’d love to share more of it with you, candidly, as it unfolds.

Reviving my series of firsts 💐

This time, it’s my first time making an Ikebana, which literally translates to “giving life to flowers.” Something so simple, but it teaches acceptance, impermanence and finding beauty in things as they are.

Which got me thinking…

The vase I used, I actually bought three years ago (I think) when I was travelling with my friends. We were on a little trip to Ballarat for a winter festival and stumbled across a market on our last day, after finishing breakfast at an equally charming cafe.

This vase was one of many unique, one-of-a-kind pieces made by a local artist. I remember I had just learned about “flower frog” and how I’d always wanted to make my own arrangements using one, so naturally, I bought the vase.

But somehow, this vase waited for three years before finally getting its moment with some flowers in it.

Maybe it was just my procrastination, but I like thinking about how this little vase has travelled through different chapters of my life before ending up here, finally doing the very thing I bought it for.

And maybe that’s what I found so beautiful about Ikebana. There’s no forcing the flowers to stay exactly as they are. You simply work with what you have, appreciate how everything comes together, and accept that eventually it will change.

I guess the vase had its own timing, and the flowers will only be here for a little while. So maybe not everything needs to happen right away or last forever for it to mean something. Sometimes, things find their way into the right moment and you just get to enjoy them while they’re here <3 by @almasantang
