1949 → 1976. Some friendships last a lifetime ❤️

Bob and Mary met Wrenis Miles soon after arriving in Los Angeles in 1948. By 1949, Wrenis was hired at Coach & Horses Spirits on Sunset Blvd.

What began as a working relationship became a lifelong friendship between our families.

A FRIDAY AT ALMOR

A little behind the scenes look at one of the many ways we choose what bottles make it onto our shelves.

Distributor tastings give us a chance to taste many wines side by side, ask questions, compare, and yes, those are spit buckets. It’s work, not a drinking party! 😁

Best part of this tasting: my two adult children slipped away on their lunch breaks to join.

The Budweiser Clydesdales making their way down Sunset Blvd, right in front of Bob and Mary’s Coach and Horses Spirit Shop at 7615 Sunset

The famous Clydesdale tradition began in 1933, when the bush family introduced a horse drawn Budweiser wagon to celebrate the return of beer after prohibition

Three new bottles just landed in our shop on Sunset and they’re anything but boring.

Meet Christina, made by Christina Netzl in Carnuntum, Austria, where her family has been organically farming in the same village for six generations.

🍏 Grüner Veltliner: green apple, lime + peppery spice. Fresh, crisp and naturally cloudy.
🍓 Kühlbar: 100% Zweigelt. Juicy berry fruit and made to drink chilled
🍊 Orange: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc + Welschriesling with 21 days of skin contact. Herbal, earthy + exotic yellow fruit.

Hand harvested, spontaneously fermented, unfined + unfiltered.

Before Almor…
1949. 1st generation. Bob and Mary Michiels purchased Coach and Horses Spirits Store, a couple blocks east where Almor is now on Sunset Blvd.

Just two young people building a life in LA, no idea they were starting something that 75 years later would still be serving the LA community.

The rest, as they say, is history. More to come 🥂
