Tickets are NOW ON SALE to “Scary Stories to Tell at Aloft”, the 2026 Halloween Edition of Communion: A Circus Open Stage! Get ready for our beloved tradition of spooks and thrills and amazing circus combined! Our Halloween Communion has a content warning of scary, spooky, dark and potential scares. Come dressed in your best Halloween costume for a chance to win a prize. AND this show is the inaugural production by our brand new Pro Program class of 26-28. Communion is a charity production - open to students and pros to perform in and produced by the students of our Pro Program who are learning how to produce shows. The tickets and donations raise money for the student’s tuition fund to help make pursuing the arts more financially possible. All ticket sales go directly to them. Here’s one of several we encourage you to visit as a preview to our celebration of community artistry…. 🥁🎪🤹🏼🤸🏼‍♂️🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🎹🎶🎼🎵🎸 Running since 2016 and regularly selling out, Sanctuary is Chicago’s monthly underground circus cabaret: a rotating lineup of some of the city’s best circus artists alongside visiting performers from around the world. Unlike a traditional circus production, there’s no theme and no larger concept the performers have to fit into. Artists are invited to bring the work they actually want to make — whether that’s breathtaking, strange, hilarious, experimental, beautiful, or some combination of all five. The result is a show that changes completely from month to month and can include everything from tightwire and aerial acts to partner acrobatics, juggling, contortion, and tramp wall, accompanied by live music and a hilariously unpredictable host. And then there’s the setting: the performances unfold inside Aloft’s converted historic church, with aerialists flying beneath the rafters and acrobats performing against the backdrop of its original stained-glass windows. Sanctuary has also traveled beyond Chicago, including a 2023 run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where critics called it: ★★★★★ Broadway Baby — “Impressive acrobatics. In my personal opinion, a tight wire act is the perfect opener for Sanctaury Cabaret. It’s unusual, ethereal and up close and personal for those in the front seats. And Oct 10 we will be gifted the presence of Molly Plunk dancing 6.5 ft in the air, kicking off the return to Sanctaury after our summer hibernation.
