We've had a very eventful October🎃 so far and celebrated both Nico's FIRST and Luca's third birthday this past weekend 🥳🚦🚘🎂 We're very thankful for all of our family and friends who came and helped make it a fun and memorable party!

Nico, we are so proud of the milestones and challenges you've endured during your first year of life, which will only make you stronger! Its hard to believe 12 months have already flown by and we can't wait to discover more of your personality!

Luca, our silly little singer who loves to make new friends and make everyone smile 😃 Thank you for being sweet to your little brother (most of the time) and learning to share your toys and snacks with him (some of the time). We got to tag along Mikey's work trip and squeezed in lots of fun with friends and family in Nashville, Gulfport and San Diego.

Flying to the mainland with a toddler and a baby is not for the faint of heart but we somehow made it with out any meltdowns while running on no sleep 🥴

So grateful for everyone who made time to spend with us on short notice. It was truly surreal to see all of our children finally meet and play together 🥰

Our little Nico turned 8 months old on the day we flew and during the entire trip he started crawling and sitting up on his own! Nico finally got to meet his great grandmother and grandpa in Mississippi and it was such a great bonding experience for the boys. Luca is now obsessed with waffles after his first dining experience at Waffle House 🧇

We added a last minute stop in San Diego on our way back home to break up the flight and were pleasantly surprised with our stay at The Grant Hotel. Although the Gaslamp district isn't the most family friendly area of San Diego, every staff member we encountered were so hospitable - especially the concierge (woot woot!). It definitely reminded me why that position in a hotel is so special ☺️✨️

Last week we lost our beloved grandfather. It has been an emotional rollercoaster trying to navigate the emotions that come with losing a loved one suddenly - feelings of sadness, regret, nostalgia and love.
Growing up, my family would fly to New York from Okinawa every few years to see the Nichols side of the family. I have such fond memories at my grandpa's house, especially in the basement. My grandpa was once the largest collector of Budweiser paraphernalia and antiques! From floor to ceiling his basement was decorated in Budweiser posters, ads, cans from around the globe, a Clydesdale horse chandelier, a stuffed Spuds Mackenzie, poker table, Juke Box and of course a couple of refrigerators completely stocked with Budweiser. A lot of core memories were made there with lots of laughs, dancing and fun times with the family.
In my 20's, I got to travel to New York a handful of times to see the family and experience the city in a whole new light but as the years went on, the visits were less frequent. I wish I did a better job at staying in touch instead of waiting for birthdays and holidays to call or send photos. I feel guilty for relying on Facebook to keep in touch but im also grateful for Facebook which allowed us to stay up to date with photos, messages and I'd get a reel from time to time (pretty impressive for a man in his late 80's 😅).
My grandpa was really into family genealogy and since becoming a mother I took a stronger interest. I'd ask him questions about our family lineage (specifically the Italian side because I was heavily invested in Sopranos lol) and learned our great, great grandfather Sabbatini had immigrated from Naples, Italy to New York in 1893. Pretty cool!
Budweiser isn't my first choice of beer but during my younger years, I'd find myself buying a 6-pack of Bud just to feel like a Nichols. I think the best way to honor my grandpa would be to crack open a Budweiser now, and celebrate him 🍻 Thank you grandpa for the unconditional love, laughs and memories over my lifetime. Happy 6 months to our baby Nico 🥳🎉

It's been a fun stage watching him observe the world when we go to the parks, laugh at everything Luca does, and roll his way around the house. Two of his bottom teeth popped out so the past couple of weeks we let him try a bunch of solids! His favorites seem to be Japanese sweet potato, broccoli and poi 🍠🥦💜

As the saying goes, "The days are long but the years are short". It feels like I just gave birth to you but here we are, half a year in and growing so fast 😭

Happy 100 days old baby Nico! The days are long and repetitive, full of pumping, breastfeeding, spit ups, and diaper changes but it's all worth it 💙
This little 3 month old chunk loves to eat, smile, fart, cat nap on mommy, and watch Luca sing and play 😊
It melts my heart seeing Luca play with his baby brother gently (most of the time lol). We love you Nico 💕 by @alohakuri

One week ago on Sunday, October 12th, our family grew from 3 to 4! We welcomed our second son - Nico 潤 (Jun) Twilbeck 💙

The third trimester with this little guy has been a physical and emotional roller-coaster, from finding out he was breech at 36 weeks and doing everything under the sun to get him to flip! We ended up doing an ECV procedure to get him to turn which led me to be able to have a successful VBAC 🙌🏼

We are still in the thick of the newborn phase but loving every second of it!

For my birthday today, we attempted to get out of the house to celebrate with our new addition + grandma Cici 🥰 and survived 😂

Before the day ends I want to wish a happy birthday to my love, Mikey 💕 Going through our older photos makes me reminisce the beginning of our love story, and to see what we've created together makes me happier than I could've ever imagined. Well.. we learned this night that Luca can out party his Mama and Dada 😂 thank you ladies for keeping him occupied on the dance floor and shout out to the DJ who was hyping up our boy all night 🎶🕺🏽
