As we come to the end of Black History Month. I’d like to reflect on the impact the exhibit SuperFine Tailoring Black Style made on me last year at The Met Museum. One of the first things I ever aspired to do in life is to become a men’s fashion designer. The visuals were stunning and the atmosphere was mixed with wonderment, solemnity and pride. This exhibition paid homage to black influences dating back to the 1800’s to modern day. The legacy built through self representation in arts, paintings, clothing, accessories etc. Where Dandyism played an essential role in aesthetics, social acceptance as well as political.
