POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
2025 was a blur of stone samples, site visits, school drop-offs, and me waddling through all of it, very pregnant, very determined, and very winded going up the stairs. And somehow, in the middle of designing homes, life designed our long-awaited baby right along with it.

To our clients: thank you for being excited to bring us into the design, trusting us with open minds and open hearts. Thank you for enjoying the process with us (even the parts that felt like a leap), and for letting the magic happen in the moments we all held our breath to see it click. You gave us room to do what we do best, and met us there with curiosity and kindness. That kind of trust is the secret ingredient. The part that turns a digital mock-up into something that actually feels like home, and feels like you.

Personally, we added a tiny human, celebrated key milestones of Hayes’s big sisters, and stayed afloat through the chaos of everyday life with three kids. My husband is still confidently scheduling our garage purge for “next weekend,” the kids still think moodboard prep deserves an audience, and our sweet old dog still believes every sample package dropped at our Dutch door is clearly for her.

This work means everything to me because it’s never just about designing rooms. It’s designing the stage your lives play out on. And getting to shape that with you is a privilege I feel in my bones. (And my knees, but that’s a different reel.)

Grateful for all of it. The messy, the beautiful, the loud, the tender. Onward, 2026.

With love and fabric samples,
Kara

Hi, hello, it’s me. Kara, the soul behind Along Came Lennox. It’s been a minute, so top off that coffee (we’ll save the bubbly for later) and let’s get reacquainted ☕

• Nine-ish years ago, along came my firstborn, Lennox. She flipped my world, so I traded a decade of corporate merchandising for a dream with her name on it.
• I live a few blocks off the Sonoma square, where our bike ride to school passes horses and chicken coops.
• Mom of three girls, ages 9, 7 and 1. Girl power, and yes, our house is loud.
• I’m 41, and it’s been the best decade yet. I know a hell yes from a hell no, with zero regrets.
• Aries through and through: fiercely loyal, passionate, spontaneous and famously impatient. Ask my husband.
• Every room needs something unexpected. Exhibit A: the faux dinosaur skull on our bookcase, for a husband who knows everything about dinosaurs. He missed his calling in paleontology.
• My one design hot take: all-white walls, no thank you. And every home deserves art in different mediums, from photography to oils to textiles.
• Pattern and texture are my love language, from my outfits to your living room.
• I don’t cook (and refuse to apologize for it), but I make a mean cheese board. Every varietal, the cutie with dried florals, nuts, chocolate, the works. Pair it with a spicy marg or anything bubbly.
• Theme parties are my thing. Past hits: dress as your favorite celebrity, dress as a San Francisco neighborhood (I went as an original gold miner), and a sneakers, suits and sparkles holiday bash. Got an idea for the next one? Send it my way.
• Go-to karaoke song: “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett. Everyone sings along, and now my girls and I rock out to it in the car.
• I’m a storyteller at heart. Tell me where you’ve traveled, how you two met, why you named your kids what you did. And I love making people laugh, so I happily play the punchline in my own stories (there are many).

What we do best: homes that are beautiful and built for real life, because a home is only beautiful if it works for how you live.

So that’s me. Nice to (re)meet you.

Throwback Thursday to the purple kitchen that is now my home💜 I still remember standing in that room for the first time with periwinkle cabinets, popcorn ceiling, a wallpaper border, and a light fixture that was just a tangle of wires, and feeling something I couldn’t quite explain. A house always tells you what it wants to be if you slow down long enough to listen. This one whispered that it was meant to hold people, meant to gather. Good design isn’t about erasing a home’s past, it’s about honoring its bones and giving it room to become what it was always meant to be. Today that same space glows with vaulted ceilings and skylights, soft greige cabinetry, a plaster hood, soapstone to quartzite and unlacquered brass that will only grow more beautiful with time, and it’s where family dance parties, fresh sourdough bread, and my kids’ sticky fingers now belong 🤍 Same room, same bones, entirely new heart. Swipe to see how far we came. #ThrowbackThursday #KitchenRenovation #BeforeAndAfter #SonomaHomes InteriorDesign taken in Sonoma, California by @alongcamelennox

Most of our clients don’t pick their wallpaper with swift decisiveness... there is often a nervous laugh, a “but what if I get sick of it?”, and a hand hovering back over the safe paint swatch. So we tape the wallpaper up in their room and let it sit for a bit, just like we all did before a first tattoo. They sit with it for a bit, get a bit excited, then we commit. After all, it’s just paper... with a slightly higher price tag 😉 Then we hang the birds in the powder room, the tiny people hiding in the nursery florals, and the moody navy half-wall in the dining room, and suddenly my clients are texting me at 10pm saying “I just keep going in there to look at it.” Even the home office got in on the fun, because a brushstroke wall behind a desk makes every Zoom call look like you have your life together (even when you’re still in pajama pants). And that dining room? Dessert is long gone and nobody can seem to leave the table. That’s the magic! Wallpaper isn’t a forever commitment, but it is a love story with a plot twist, and yes, I will always say “go bolder.” 💙 #WallpaperLove #SonomaInteriorDesigner #HomeOfficeDesign #DiningRoomIdeas #InteriorDesignInspo taken in Sonoma, California by @alongcamelennox

If you can spot our style from across the room, we failed.

We marry our client’s style with the style of the home. Equal dance, and we listen.

We can go neutral, or we go neutral with a pop… (hellllllo world map mural for the kids).

Or we simply don’t go neutral at all (and use your family’s vintage chairs!)

We let a spark of sheer joy (aka THE wallpaper pick mid-meeting) build a room.

Or, we hear you want a rad gallery wall and have art of all sizing so I spend a day on a ladder mapping this beauty out. And I’m scared of heights!

We build for your lifestyle… like this second home in Sonoma that is used for entertaining and weekend getaways. Statement sofa for the win!

While we also love to design around primary homes, like this classic San Francisco home that serves every purpose midweek to the weekend. We get to know how the family lives!

We also act as a marriage therapist, getting to know what the wife likes, what the husband likes… and whose vote matters most😉

And without fail, you get what lights you up. Your home reflects you. That is what matters. taken in Sonoma, California by @alongcamelennox

Working with an interior designer is a way to create your story. It’s a dance between how you live now and how you dream of living, and our job is to find where the two meet. From the first limewash swatch taped to the wall, to debating wallpaper (yes, we held up forty samples and yes, it was glorious), to the rug that grounds the whole room, the window treatments that soften the light, and every last layer of bedding that makes you want to cancel your plans to stay in. Each piece is part of the puzzle, and none of them can be rushed. The magic lives in the trust, in the “I never would have picked that on my own, but I love it” moments, and in actually enjoying the ride instead of racing to the end. And now we’re so close to the finish line with these SF clients that I can practically hear the final install day drumroll. Seeing it all come to life, watching a vision on paper and sample swatches become the place where real life happens, is the part that never gets old (okay, and maybe a happy tear or two). Stay tuned, because this story is about to get its happy ending. #SanFranciscoInteriorDesign #InteriorDesignProcess #LimewashWalls #NorthernCaliforniaDesigner #AlongCameLennox taken in San Francisco, California by @alongcamelennox

September was a lot, in the best way. Site visits, multiple client installs, and one 9 foot sofa that went through an SF window with approximately four inches to spare (I aged a little, the sofa did not). In between, I fell for roughly a million wallpaper samples and found some killer upholstery fabrics I’m still thinking about. At home, all three kids celebrated birthdays (yes, it’s bananas and yes they are all within two weeks of each other), Hayes turned one and started walking (so now I chase her and she’s a fast little rascal), annnnnnnd we surprised the family with their first trip to Disneyland. I also seriously considered bangs, discussed it at length with anyone who would listen, and did not get them. Add in the legendary Sonoma Vintage Festival and some wine tasting with friends, and I’d say we closed out the month pretty well. Now bring on October, because I am damn ready. New projects, more installs, new wallpaper I haven’t even met yet, and cozy season in Sonoma is basically my love language.

Some luxuries don’t announce themselves. They just quietly change how your whole day feels. ✨ This primary bath in St. Helena is full of them: heated marble floors for those cool Napa mornings, a skylight right inside the shower, integrated marble sinks that show off this beautiful natural marble slab, zellige tiled shower walls with barely-there grout lines, plaster walls that glow like late-afternoon light, a deep soaking tub, and two private toilet rooms (his and hers, because marriage is a partnership 😉). And my personal favorite? The window behind the tub that fogs for privacy at the push of a button. Yes, really. The kind of details you won’t spot in the first glance, but you’ll feel them every single day. That’s the whole point. Gallery walls for kids. Let them show off who they are. Our design strategy is to create a mash-up of frames with their favorite hobbies & obsessions, using high quality (standard size) frames WITH affordable art … because as we all know, what’s loved at age 9 is can be totally uncool for them at age 11😂. Favorite source for sourcing affordable art? Etsy, Society 6, PSTR studio and Artfully Walls. Go check them out🙌🏻

A little WFH, ‘get some shiz done’, type of nook. Carved out of an angled dead space, this little nook gives way to setting up a laptop, spreading out a to-do list with some bills to pay, and can get swiftly sealed off with a gorgeous pocket door when we want to hide the mess. From a design POV, we made it a moment instead of letting it stay as a (sad!) white drywall almost-closet. taken in St Helena. Napa Valley, California by @alongcamelennox
