we don’t usually go to the same place twice,
but this one’s an exception.

easily one of our favourite dinner spots in auckland recently and the steak and sashimi combo is unbeatable. Also love the fact that you can walk along westhaven after a big meal. by @alonzoventures

we were just gonna buy asin tibuok. i asked if we could see how it’s made, and they said “yeah, why not.”

they took us out back where the air was thick with smoke. coconut husks burning, seawater being poured, everything slow. they told us it takes months — not weeks — to make one batch. months of drying, filtering, boiling, and waiting.

no two pieces come out the same. it’s all by feel. generations of practice in their hands.

seeing it up close made me realize how rare this kind of patience is now. if you’re curious to try it or just wanna support the people keeping it alive, dm me and i’ll plug you in. by @alonzoventures
