Happy Earth Day! 🌎 🌍🌏

Today, we mark on our calendars a time to acknowledge and cherish the invaluable gift of life that has been awarded to us. And today, we hope that you find time to celebrate with loved ones and “new ones” in fellowship.

But as the sun sets on this year’s Earth Day and a new day arrives, let us remember that it will take more than a single day to save our precious M🌍THER.

This grassroots movement that has grown since the first seeds were planted in 1970 continues to need us to raise our voices even louder as each year, we continue to break heat records.

We must stay active and vote with our hearts, our hands, and our dollars to secure a better future.

Each generation makes its own apology. Let the cycle stop with us.

🔈🔉🔊Increase Volume for Optimal Experience.🌳🐥🍃

“When you go to say hello to nature, put every redundant sound away, for nature is music, and that alone should suffice.” - Michael Bassey Johnson, writer of Song of a Nature Lover.

—

Take a moment and observe the people around you. More than likely, if you are on a busy street or taking the subway, most folks are either occupied with their phone or listening to something through their earphones.

Over the past few decades, we have become the earphone generation.

I used to be terrified of spending time in silence, instead feeling the need to fill it with some audio recording. Whether it be an NPR podcast like The Brian Lehrer Show during a leisurely walk, or singing along to my favorite Beatles record, “Oh Darling,” while cycling through Central Park, there was always some sort of noise ringing in my ear.

With reflection, I realized I spent more time consuming media, which has the ability to sway our thoughts, opinions, and emotions, rather than tuning in and listening to my own thoughts and feelings; not to mention I was missing out on the beautiful symphony that nature provides.

This newly formed time spent being present has served as therapy, allowing for deep reflection on life and conversations that were previously drowned out by the constant distraction emitting from my headphones.

Although far from perfect, I’ve made considerable progress in allowing myself to just be and follow the natural rhythms of life.

Eid Mubarak! 🌙

As Muslims around the world commemorate the end of Ramadan and enter the joyous period of Eid al-Fitr, we find it fitting to pause and reflect on the significance of this holy month.

Ramadan offers us lessons that transcend religious boundaries and offers us invaluable truths, that speak to all individuals, whether you identify with a religious practice, are purely spiritual, or adhere to atheism.

Ramadan teaches us to slow down an appreciate what matters most in life.

As we continue our conversation on Slow Living, it is only right to highlight this sacred period cherished by more than 1.8 billion people.

In a world where material pleasures are accessible with just a tap of a finger, it raises the fundamental question: Are we truly happy?

Happiness lies in cultivating appreciation for the mundane and finding joy in the the simple things in life. By learning to be content with less, we can experience a deeper sense of fulfillment. by @alphabets.abc
