“I used to think sororities were something I would never understand, let alone join one. Growing up in Spain, they simply weren’t part of my world. I never could’ve guessed Alpha Phi would end up meaning so much to me.

During my first semester at Syracuse, I met lifelong friends, but I still struggled to see Syracuse as my new home. My main goal when going through recruitment was to meet more people. I didn’t realize it at the time, but
the recruitment process and joining Alpha Phi changed the way I felt about Syracuse, it made it my home. It is true what they say that it’s not the place that makes a home, but the people. and for that I have to thank all the incredible women I have met since joining Alpha Phi. I say a special thank you to my other half since first semester, and my now sister @taylorcurtis_ . Opposites really attract because I have never met someone who is so different from me and at the same time fits with me so easily. I mean it when I say I wouldn’t be here right now if it weren’t for you.

To my perfect big, @hannahbcolon , from the moment I met you during House Tours I knew you would become the big sister I never had. You stayed by my side since day one and supported me selflessly. @marianarodluz , my gbig, thank you for welcoming me into this pham with so much ease, I couldn’t have asked for a better person to look up to. Lastly, to my ggbig @sofiaadurante , I admire your hard work and passion and can’t wait to see all you accomplish. Even in the short time we had together, you showed me how to enjoy every second to the fullest.

Alpha Phi gave me more than friendships, it gave me the home I had been searching for since I got here. ❤️”

“Coming to Syracuse, I wasn’t really sure what I was looking for or what this place would become for me. Before college, I was surrounded by people who made me feel like I could never fully be myself around them. Then I went through recruitment, walked into Alpha Phi, and met the most infectious group of girls I have ever been around- my roommates in 538.5 and 510X517. Being around them was the first time I didn’t feel like I had to pretend or try to fit in. You guys have always made me feel like I am loved for exactly who I am, and I don’t think you will ever understand how much that has meant to me. We laugh until we cry, study until the words blur, and somehow always find our way back to the same couch.

Alpha Phi continued to bring me people who made Syracuse feel even more like home, and my sorority fam was no exception.

To my gbig @leilahashemi_ , you were the older sister I never had and always wanted. You are the most hardworking, selfless, and inspiring person i’ve ever met, and I only hope to be half of who you are when I grow up. I would do anything to go back to when you only lived down the road.

To my big, @hillaryldasilva , from the second we met on bid day no one had ever understood me that fast. We can never stop laughing when we’re together, and I miss those moments more than you know.

Next, to my best friend @amandagoldsteiinn , everyone that knows me knows you. I could talk about you forever and I’ll never stop bragging about how lucky I am to have you as a little. We are the same person in every way possible, but that’s why we make so much sense together. Your contagious energy will be so missed when you go abroad to Australia, but i’m so excited to watch you have the time of your life. It’ll always be us.

And to my littlest @emilyyguarino , it surprises me every single day how alike we are. You are somehow the perfect mix of this whole fam. I wouldn’t want to spend the rest of this year with anyone else.

Alpha Phi gave me so much, but most of all, it gave me the people who made Syracuse home and I couldn’t be more grateful.♥️”

“Growing up the middle child of three girls gave me very high expectations of what “sisterhood” should look like. Entering recruitment I already had a deep appreciation for Alpha Phi, after watching my sister struggle to adjust in college this chapter changed her life, and made Syracuse her home. I always considered @emmy.henning my best friend and while I knew it was a blessing that I had her by my side I was also nervous about forming my own college experience and having the ability to grow out of her shadow and into my own person.

The second I walked into Alpha Phi during recruitment I realized I had nothing to worry about. Everyone in this house took a genuine interest in getting to know me and celebrated me as an individual. This encouragement gave me the confidence to step into a leadership role on our Executive Board as VP of Member Experience. Sisterhood is what drew me to Alpha Phi and Syracuse in the first place, so I take so much pride in having the ability to plan and host events that continue to instill this value and feeling to all our members.

I already have the most amazing sisters so I didn’t go into big/little expecting much but when I met @saylorstillufsen I gained a best friend, soulmate, and third sister in one. Thank you for introducing me to @anna_boling , I am so grateful for how close we got in such a short period of time, this pham misses you SOO much. Now I have my own perfect little @_parkersimon , the little sister I’ve been missing at Syracuse you complete our chicken pham!

Finally to my best friend @meghan.rudzewick I’ve truly never met someone so perfect both inside and out, you make everyday here so much better.

“Growing up with sisters, I’ve always had that group of girls to turn to, and coming to college, I really hoped I could find something that gave me the same feeling. Going through recruitment, I was looking for friendships that would last a lifetime. Alpha Phi showed me how much the girls genuinely cared about each other, and I knew I wanted to be surrounded by people like that. Since joining, I’ve found the friendships I know will be in my life long after college.

The people are what make Alpha Phi so special to me, and it has introduced me to some of the most incredible people. My big, @marissasavner , I truly couldn’t have asked for anyone better. You’re someone I look up to, someone I can always count on, and you never fail to make me smile. You’re one of the most caring and genuine people, and I feel so lucky to have a big who feels like a best friend.

My gbig, @christinadellanno_ , you have a way of making every room more fun just by being in it, and you’re someone who can make anyone happy without even trying. I’m so lucky to have someone as fun and special as you.

To my ggbig, @chloeaorourke , we miss you so much! You are the most genuine person I know, and someone who makes everyone around you feel loved. You are such a huge part of our Pham, and it’s definitely not the same without you here.

And my roommate and best friend, @gabriellatellone . You are what makes Syracuse feel like home to me. There’s truly no one else I would rather experience college with.

“Growing up as the middle child of three girls, I always thought I knew what sisterhood looked like. But when I came to college, I underestimated the shoes that would need to be filled. Recruitment was never something I was adamant about, and I was probably one of the last to register. I walked into recruitment unsure, never anticipating the home I’d find in Alpha Phi.

I was met with warmth, kindness, and an undeniable sense of belonging from the first second I walked into Alpha Phi. It’s incredibly special knowing I now have the chance to create those same feelings for someone else.

A house becomes a home through its people. I met my big @annakfishburn and everything clicked into place. She is the truest, most loyal friend and my other half, and she embodies what it means to be an Alpha Phi. Sophomore year, I welcomed my perfect twins, @dy1angrace and @itsjocelynmejiaa . Dylan is the coolest, kindest, and most passionate person I know, and her presence is infectious. Jocelyn’s determination and strength inspire me every day, and she lights up every room she walks into. My precious g-littles, @maya.sepe , @quinndouby and @maddiemcgovrrn , are the perfect additions to have with me senior year, alongside a group of best friends I couldn’t be luckier to have!

As I step into my senior year, I couldn’t be more grateful that I took a chance on recruitment. To anyone debating if recruitment is worth it, I hope you take the same chance I did. Alpha Phi has given me more personal growth, opportunities, and friendships than I could have imagined.

This position would not be the same without my team, @sammyagate and @livvgambino . I can’t wait to experience this with you both.

And to MC24, thank you for giving me the best reason to love Alpha Phi as much as I do. I’m beyond excited to have one last year together.

“ One of the hardest parts of college was leaving behind the people who made home feel like home. Growing up in a close-knit community, I was lucky enough to have friendships that felt like family and it’s ultimately what led me to go through recruitment. I wasn’t expecting to replace the friendships I had at home—I just hoped to find relationships that could even slightly compare to the love, support, and sense of belonging they gave me. Looking back now, I’m so incredibly lucky to say that Alpha Phi gave me exactly that, and so much more.

Going into recruitment, I was so nervous that I wasn’t going to find what I had been looking for. But the moment I walked into Alpha Phi, that feeling disappeared. It wasn’t just one conversation that made Alpha Phi feel different- it was the feeling that filled the entire house. Every girl looked completely at home, and there was such an overwhelming feeling of friendship, love, and support. For the first time since leaving for college, I felt like I could find that same sense of home again.

That feeling I had during recruitment quickly became my reality because of the people Alpha Phi brought into my life. To my big and best friend, @_hannahwolf , I genuinely don’t know how I went so long without you. I fully believe meeting you completely changed my freshman year in all the best ways possible, having you has made this experience 10x more special. To my gbig, @isabellaweisse , you have been the best role model, and I’m so grateful to have somebody as perfect as you to look up to. To my ggbig, @anna___momo , you truly showed me just how special Alpha Phi really is. The impact you had on my life in such a short time is something I’ll carry with me forever. I love you all so much.

Finally, to my roommate and bestfriend, @avagnecco , getting to experience college and Alpha Phi together has made this experience even more meaningful, and I’m so grateful to be sharing it all with my best friend.

I am so thankful for the friendships and community I have already found in Alpha Phi, and I know it’s only the beginning. ❤️”
