Month one in America. AFTLS.

The first leg of our tour saw us through the states of Indiana, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Texas. Along the way we’ve stopped at Chicago, Boston, Salem, Easton, San Antonio, New Jersey et al.

Each day we head into colleges, campuses, universities to teach and run workshops on Shakey Shakespeare. Working with students who are either completely new to it or some who have a bit more experience and seeking new ways of opening up the language. What a pleasure to have met so many so willing to step out of their comfort zone and stand up and have a go. It’s a wonderful feeling to see the tentative relationship towards the language switch from “hmm not sure” to “ah yeah! I get it” a great great feeling.

Then by night we unpack our showcase, set up our playing space, tech in our lighting and perform our production of Much Ado About Nothing. A wonderful play, with four wonderful Actors.

We opened in Texas tonight. What a sentence. What an adventure.

Love to you all xx by @alphelps88

Off to the the big USA today with this fab bunch for Much Ado About Nothing with AFTLS @shakesatnd

We’ve been rehearsing away for the last 5 weeks and will be taking our brill show across the pond for the next 3 months. A new state every week before ending back where it all started in London Town.

If you’re out there, let me know, it’ll be lovely to say hi. 👋

Can’t wait to play, perform and teach some Shakey P alongside these 4 brilliant humans.

Up and away!

🎭✈️🇺🇸

38 then.

What a year. I got engaged to my favourite person, my best friend. We bought a house together. Relocated. Oh, and ran the London Marathon. Whilst also having the wonderful opportunity to keep on acting, at such fab theatres, with wonderful people. I’ve been very lucky.

Not all positive, certainly some hard stuff in there as well, especially as I march towards 40. I miss my dad, I wish I could share this with him.

For now, it’s a trip to the theatre and a glass of wine with my darling @evie.pickerill

Stay well. All my love ❤️

WE DID IT!

Evie and I had the pleasure of running the @londonmarathon this weekend. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything quite like it. Crowds roaring, music everywhere, the kindness of others. What an inspirational day!

We ran to raise money for an extraordinary charity @childrenwithcanceruk and were so proud to do so. And to run alongside all the other participants. Their courage, kindness, and determination was a real privilege to witness.

Thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and cheered us on, you carried us every step of the way. And to my fiancée @evie.pickerill your strength, determination, and heart amaze me every single day. What a privilege it is, and how lucky am I, to run through life with you. ❤️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💨

P.s You can still donate! The links in the bio! 🏅

WE DID IT!

What a day, thank you so much for your continued donations! We’ve raised nearly double our target. THANK YOU!

I’m not a runner and will never class myself as one, but I feel honoured to have taken part in the @londonmarathon to help raise money for @childrenwithcanceruk

@alphelps88 WELL DONE, you’re incredible and I’m incredibly lucky to have experienced this day with you! I’m so proud of you! by @alphelps88
