August summer in the city 🌇

Days filled with stressful decisions. A lot of questions without clear answers. Anxieties disturbing sleep.

And yet finding tiny little moments of enjoying life - no matter what outcome this time will bring. …who has entered PERIMENOPAUSE 👹

I’m currently moving through the infamous Bermuda Triangle of a health care. Being sent from psychiatrist/psychologist to GP, and from there to gyn. Gyn sending to psychiatrist and… The Devil’s triangle starts again 👹 And it’s been many months like this 😵‍💫 Each health care provider claims that the next one should help. Psychiatrist can only offer antidepressants. GP can’t even sent for hormonal tests 😏 Gyn sends to test hormones “but it wouldn’t show anything anyway”. And the HR therapy is reserved for menopause, but on top of that with my endometriosis I even can’t supplement estrogen.

Hopefully I’ll reach a perimenopause and PMDD (severe PMS) specialist soon, otherwise I might not be kept accountable for my actions 👹

I carry secateurs in my bag as a self defence.

As a safety measure for my mental health.

Because picking wild flowers is literally my therapy 💆🏽‍♀️🌸🎋

1. the wild floristry hunting

I have my spots which I scan on the way through bus window or when biking and I take mind notes to myself where I saw a group of wild ‘weeds’ soon ready to bloom, or where I picked some plants this time of a year ago.

It’s like mapping my neighbourhood in my head and learning myself to be mindful and aware of what is going around me.

You can train where you direct your attention. For me it needs to be something exciting… Like a true hunting 😎

2. Preparation

Turning ‘weeds’ from ‘no man land’ into a florist material by cleaning stems and conditioning them so they stay fresh for many days. 👩🏻‍🌾

3. Arranging composition

I experiment with blending different sorts of plants to create surprising and contrasting combinations. Playing with the concept by using plants that are perceived as common and not interesting by arranging them in elevated, classic compositions. Or creating a controlled chaos in a beautiful vase. 🌿🏺🌾

4. Living wild floristry

I observe how compositions blend into the space becoming a piece of interior element. How they bring a touch of wild nature. And how long different sorts stay fresh and decorative. 🌼

5. Learning on mistakes

Since I try different ways, I’m not always happy with the final result 😬 Sometimes I can see that composition is out of balance or that I should have stopped adding more of plants, maybe some sort wither very quickly.

But since I create with imperfect wild nature material, I try to not get lost in my perfectionism. It’s just a wild bouquet after all 🤭 And my passion about wild floristry isn’t about predictable, standardised effects, but about experiencing, touching and creating 🌿 taken in Kummelnäs by @alpine_leopardess
