Rehab and training plans aren’t one-size-fits-all.

If you’re serious about getting back to the bike stronger than ever—or want to stop bouncing between injuries and inconsistent results—you need a program built for athletes like you.

Not clinic templates.
Not basic exercises.
Not “just rest and stretch.”

Here’s what I’ve learned through 20+ years as an Athletic Therapist, MTB Coach, athlete, and dad balancing it all:

1️⃣ You need someone who can coach movement, not just prescribe it.
Knowing what to do isn’t enough. You need cues, feedback, and eyes on the details to rebuild strength, control, and confidence.

2️⃣ The assessment matters—but the plan matters more.
Anyone can point out what’s wrong. I build the week-by-week path to get you riding hard, racing again, and doing it pain-free.

3️⃣ You don’t need more hands-on—you need load, progression, and smart programming.
Your body gets stronger when it’s challenged with purpose, not babied.

4️⃣ The goal isn’t to be “pain-free.”
It’s to ride, lift, and move with speed, confidence, and zero hesitation—even when you’re tired or under pressure.

5️⃣ Do the people you’re working with understand what you’re about to put your body and mind through when it’s time to perform?
I do—because I’ve lived it. That understanding changes everything about how we train and rebuild.

6️⃣ You’ve got a lot on your plate.
Multi-discipline racing? School? Work? I’ve helped athletes juggle it all—and I’ll help you prioritize what gets real results long-term.

7️⃣ You need focused intent every rep, every session.
The small details matter. That’s how we go from “just okay” to faster, stronger, and more resilient than you were before.

This isn’t just rehab.
It’s performance. It’s trust. It’s about showing up with a plan that actually works—in the real world.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start building, reach out. Let’s get to work.

One rider. Multiple bikes. The training should transfer.

Most of us don’t ride just one type of bike, and your gym program doesn’t need to completely change every time you switch disciplines.

MTB, BMX, XC, Enduro, Gravel and DH all have different demands, but they share the same physical foundation:

Strength. Power. Mobility. Aerobic fitness.

Build those well and you improve your ability to produce and absorb force, stay resilient, and maintain performance as fatigue builds.

What changes more is how you ride the bike and how your on-bike training is structured. That’s where the program can be adjusted around your discipline, goals, race schedule and stage of development.

That approach has helped riders in the program achieve:

• Top-10 age-group finishes at the Canadian Downhill National Championships
• Top-10 Pro results in Canadian Enduro
• A successful return from ACL surgery to complete and thrive at the BC Bike Race
• Multiple top results at the Canadian BMX National Championships
• Provincial Pump Track Champions
• Stronger, more capable recreational riders who simply want to ride better and keep doing it for years

The goal isn’t to build a gym athlete.

It’s to build a better athlete behind every bike you ride.

Next season’s success starts now.

Winter is long. Use that time to build. Months on the couch followed by panic training before spring won’t give you the same results as consistent, progressive work.

Start today, build good habits, and prepare your body for the work ahead.

MTB Strength Club brings everything together in one complete program:

✅ Strength training
✅ Endurance training
✅ Mobility training
✅ Mental training
✅ Nutrition guidance to support your training and recovery

Coaching and programs delivered through your training app, with clear progression and support along the way. Each part works together to help you ride stronger, handle fatigue, and build confidence on the bike.

MTB Strength Club registration is open, with online and in-person options available.

Start building now. Head to the link in my bio to sign up, or book a call to chat about the best fit for you.

You already ride. You’re active. You want your training to help you do more on the bike.

That’s who MTB Strength Club is built for.

The program starts with the demands of mountain biking and the physical qualities you need to improve. Every part has a purpose beyond getting sweaty, burning calories or leaving the gym exhausted.

Here’s what makes the approach different:

💪 Athletic development.
Strength and mobility form the foundation. From there, we develop movement quality, coordination and power, building your ability to move well and produce force in different positions and directions.

Squats, hinges, presses and rows all have a place. We also progress beyond those basic patterns, combining movements and challenging how you control your body. Mountain biking demands much more than moving a weight up and down.

📈 A complete training program.
Your gym sessions are part of the bigger picture. Endurance training, additional mobility and guidance around your riding and cross-training help bring it together. What you do between sessions matters, and you have support with that too.

🤝 A coach invested in your progress.
I’m involved in your training, helping you understand what to work on and how it fits your goals. That relationship extends beyond the hour we spend in the gym.

My background as an Athletic Therapist, strength and conditioning coach, and on-bike coach shapes how I put it all together. I understand the physical demands of riding and how to build towards them.

You don’t need to be an elite racer to train with purpose. You might want to feel stronger on technical trails, hold up better on long rides or arrive at next season feeling prepared.

The goal is to help you become a more capable athlete so you can get more out of the riding you love.

Why is MTB Strength Club six months long? Because meaningful progress takes consistent work.

Six months gives us time to build a foundation, develop strength, power and endurance, and carry that progress into riding season. Each phase builds on the last, with a purpose behind what you’re doing and when.

The program brings together:
▪️ Progressive strength training built for mountain bikers.
▪️ Endurance and mobility work beyond your gym sessions.
▪️ Coaching, feedback and adjustments along the way.
▪️ A community of riders to help you stay consistent.

I get it, committing to six months upfront is a big jump. But many members have told me how thankful they are that they committed, after years of starting and stopping general fitness programs or following training designed for other sports.

Having a plan, support and time to follow through makes a difference. The goal is to start next season strong, fit and ready to enjoy your riding.

Wondering whether it’s right for you? Reach out or book a call. I have times available throughout next week to chat about your goals and what to expect. Link in bio.

Plank series for mountain bikers. Simple, with a purpose.

Build control between your rib cage and pelvis, shoulder strength and muscular endurance. Focus on holding your position while continuing to breathe.

Static holds give you time to notice and correct sagging hips, torso rotation or collapsing shoulders, laying the groundwork for more challenging, dynamic core exercises.

This series is part of the MTB Strength Club transition phase, preparing riders for the demands of off-season training with purposeful progressions.

“It looks fine” doesn’t mean your helmet is still ready to protect you.

Inspect your helmet regularly. Check the shell, foam liner, straps, and buckle for cracks, dents, separation, or wear.

If your bike helmet takes an impact in a crash, replace it. Damage to the protective liner isn’t always visible, and an inspection can’t guarantee it’s safe for another hit.

Buy the best helmet you can reasonably afford, but don’t confuse the biggest price tag with the best protection. Prioritize proper fit, certification for your type of riding, and independent safety ratings where available.

Helmet technology continues to evolve, but no helmet makes you concussion-proof.

We spend plenty of time checking our bikes. Give the equipment protecting your head the same attention.

When did you last check yours?

Thanks for following along during Concussion Awareness Week. 🧠 I hope these posts have helped clear up some confusion and given you more confidence to ask questions.

Concussion management can be overwhelming. There’s still plenty of misinformation, conflicting advice, and marketing promising to have the answer to every concussion.

You deserve clear guidance and support that considers your individual recovery.

As an Athletic Therapist, my experience includes managing concussion protocols in professional hockey. I’m here to help riders, parents, and coaches better understand concussion management, protocols, and where to turn for appropriate care.

If something from this week raised a question, or you’re unsure where to start, reach out. The conversation doesn’t end when awareness week does.

Save these posts for reference and share them with your riding crew. 🤝

For many of us, riding is how we manage stress, see our friends and feel like ourselves.

A concussion can interrupt all of that at once.

You lose the physical outlet, the routine, the time outside and the connection with your riding crew. For a competitive athlete, being away from training and racing can also challenge a big part of their identity.

the thing you’d normally do to cope with a difficult day might be something you can’t safely do yet.

Supporting a recovering rider means staying connected.

▪️ Check in regularly, even when they have no recovery update to share.
▪️ Talk about things beyond their injury and when they’ll be back.
▪️ Offer short, manageable meet ups that fit their tolerance.
▪️ Keep including them, with an easy way to decline or leave early.

For some riders, being around their team or meeting the crew before a ride helps them feel included. For others, watching everyone head out makes the feeling of missing out harder.

Ask what feels supportive. A quiet visit or time together outside the bike scene might be the better option.

Parents and coaches, keep young riders involved as people, even when they can’t participate as athletes.

If someone is struggling emotionally, help them bring that into the conversation with their care team. Mental health support belongs in concussion care too.

They’re still part of the crew. Make sure they feel it.
