A month ago we just couldn’t help ourselves and set out to an early morning desert challenge. One that tested our stamina and resiliance against the scorching desert heat of August.
A trail that would normally take 4.5 hours in the winter- turned to 6.5 hours as the sun rose …and I wilted in the burning suns heat.
A definite reminder that mother nature must always be respected #trailrunning #desertvibes #runningmotivation by @alter.rachael

We climbed and scrambled, giddy-like, over the boulders.
Climbed ladders new and old, etched and hammered, paved endlessly into the rock.
Lifted ourselves up to glance into the past.
Stared dumbstruck and humbled into bygones and eons and lifetimes that silently stared back.
So quite and patient as time wore at it slowly.
Or so fast and violent sweeping up all in its path.
To the sea.
To float eyes up into the blue and sun.
To dissolve back into time.
The whisper of the wind caressed us gently and reassuringly, and let us pass through. #trailrunner #trailrunning #naturelovers #poem by @alter.rachael

When the hills are too high

When the hills are too high, and you just want to die.
Are you starting to cry ? or is that “dust “in your eye ?

You will pray for something swift to take you over a cliff.
Or an avalanche of stones to pore down on your bones.
Or a fatal fall to roll you down like a ball.
Or a mountain goat -karate kick your throat.

Those vultures that wait should make haste with your fate!

Your alarm at three should have been given a knee.

When the hills are too high but you just want to fly.
Turn the opposite way and let gravity play.
Skips, hops and jumps off of steps and sharp stumps.
Turn the music up loud to cast away the dark cloud.
Parkor your way down not a trace to a frown.

When the hills are too high …and you just want to die.
Come do it again tomorrow. by @alter.rachael
