Your life is really your altar and it's all sacred. Every. single. moment. Choosing to have an altar in your home is a way to honour that. Usually an altar is created over time by collecting items that inspire you and bring forth feelings of love and compassion. A space for you to feel, breathe, light a candle, to honour this life or to simply delight in the beauty of the natural world and to re member that that same beauty resides within you too.. by @altering__

Each time I visit this beach I find myself leaving with handfuls of these richly pigmented rocks which I'd like to experiment using as glazes. Here is an altar which I carved and shaped from clay made in Portugal, I really like how this bigger grog looks with the darker clay by @altering__

Recently, I had the privilege of spending time with a local potter in a small Sri Lankan village. My first experience at the wheel, guided by her skilled hands, shaping rough clay mixed with tiny stones from the nearby riverbed. The kiln was a fascinating home-built creation of clay and metal, still a mystery to me. It was inspiring to witness the traditional craftsmanship, highlighting the simple, sustainable methods still used by local artisans today. taken in Sri Lanka by @altering__

Pot belly smeared with wild clay. Made many moons ago. I’m on the road for the foreseeable future and these hands so miss shaping earth. Dreaming up attending a pottery apprenticeship in the east in the coming months, if you know of anything do let me know x by @altering__
