Putting the intangible experience of life into a material form.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Academia and research have always existed as a means of hierarchal patronage, used to justify the existing colonial world order, just as any other branch of the patriarchal ideology. This framework reproduces an ableist, wealthy, cis, white, hetero/homonormative, masculine human-centered point of view. Within this scope “Research” is Experience, appropriated and distorted to fit the colonial framework.

Research is first and foremost a collaboration between the Self and the Environment. And when Experience is used as extractable data (as an extractable resource) it becomes a tool for justifying a generalised idea. Because extracted data can be interpreted in any way once it becomes separated from the identity to whom that data belongs.

It is extremely important to dismantle the word “art”, for it, existing in the scope of the epistemology, is used (and has done its work) at sterilizing that very “art” through erasing identity. Erasure of identity of a creator depletes the work from one’s background, from ones relationship with the epistemology and ones position in it, from one’s ancestry. This erasure has created a sterile market for capitalist consumption where art* becomes commodity. Thus the sole of the creator and their personal history, and the history of their ancestors is being taken away — a practice laying at the core of colonial erasure.

This project, ART (Alternative Research Techniques) has an aim to expand our understanding of the forms in which research can be done and to work towards creating an alternative narrative, in which “research” will seize to exist as a colonial and patronizing practice. To create space for all the Alternative* methods I have been using as tools — mediators — that help me transcribe everything that life sends through me. Mediums through which the product of my contemplation accumulates and exits my body in the form of words. Mediums that allow to go beyond the confines of logical thinking and dismantle the rigid systems. by @alternativeresearchtechniques

“A Body of Water and a Body of Fire” intertwines fury, love, anger, soothingness, rage, care, lust, and surrender. A tribute to autonomy, nurtured resilience and reclaimed desire. A state where dualities are not feared but collide, making life flow through the body so smoothly as if it has been coated in oil.

კავშირი is about re-rooting and insisting upon identity & origin // while i pay tribute to the lands, i cannot bypass the extremely patriarchal realities of the region, the exploitation the land faces due to attempts to commercialize it, the economical dependency and, in the majority of cases, life on the verge of survival due to this commercialization that ruins ecosystems, rips people off from their connection with their land // as a decolonial researcher & practitioner who puts #landback (an Indigenous-led movement aimed at reclaiming authority, stewardship, and ownership of ancestral lands to restore sovereignty, culture, and sustainable practices) to the centerpiece, i cannot bleed more on how necessary re-rooting and trying to restore sovereignty is // sovereignty starts with decentralization and only direct localization can truly restore and prevent the destruction ✢ #art #trans #artispolitical #decolonize by @alternativeresearchtechniques
