HUGEL and Snoop Dogg just dropped "H.O.U.S.E". 🏠

The story starts in an Instagram DM — Snoop hit up HUGEL, they linked, and HUGEL first played this live at his Coachella debut. West Coast drawl over warm Latin house drums, out now on HUGEL's own Make The Girls Dance Records. Snoop already opened HUGEL's debut album Twenty One earlier this year; now he gets the full single.

Snoop on a Latin house record — does this open a new lane for HUGEL, or is it a one-off flex?

Alesso and Kaitlin Aragon's "Fight for Love" is out. 🏙️

Cinematic progressive house — violin up front, Aragon's vocal over Alesso's big progressive foundation. It had been an ID through Ultra Japan and EDC Colombia, and last night he played it from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building — first DJ to do a proper takeover up there since Martin Garrix in 2022. Out now (Capitol / Alefune under UMG), with EDC Orlando + Mexico, Decadence Colorado and Countdown NYE still ahead.

Empire State takeover energy forever, or keep Alesso in the festival mainstage lane — which Fight for Love are you on?

The Chainsmokers just dropped "BABY" — their first single as independent artists. 💚

Drew and Alex announced this week they've left Columbia/Disruptor after 11 years, saying they want to "have fun and experiment" with everything that comes next. BABY landed overnight with a release video that cuts from studio sessions straight to stadium crowds. "A new chapter begins," as they put it when they announced the drop Wednesday.

@thechainsmokers

Does going indie pull The Chainsmokers back toward the "Closer" / "Don't Let Me Down" era, or somewhere totally new?

FISHER and LAUREL's "Staring at the Sun" is finally out. ☀️

This was one of the most-asked-about IDs of FISHER's whole summer — it travelled with him through EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Europe, Tomorrowland, Creamfields and Silverworks Island, became a moment across his 15 Thursdays at [UNVRS] Ibiza, and even soundtracked that viral Kevin Hart wooden-horse clip at OMNIA Dayclub. LAUREL wrote the vocal around the myth of Icarus: meeting someone who feels like your own sun. Out now on CATCH & RELEASE, with two Forest Hills Stadium shows in New York up next.

Chicago, 1977. 🏠

Frankie Knuckles moves from New York to DJ a new West Loop club run by Robert Williams: the Warehouse, 206 S. Jefferson. Juice, no alcohol, a mostly Black, Latino and LGBTQ crowd, and Frankie all night mixing disco, soul and Euro synth records with his own re-edits.

Soon people were asking Chicago record shops for "Warehouse music." Importes Etc. gave it a section, and the sign got cut down to "House Music."

He left in '83 to open the Power Plant. His take on Jamie Principle's "Your Love" hit Trax in 1987. In 2004 that stretch of Jefferson became Frankie Knuckles Way. He passed in 2014 at 59.

One night in the Warehouse booth: what's your first record?
