ON VIEW: “Stripped” by Brandon Altman (@altmanart) solo exhibition, on view through March 9th.

Altman considers experimentation as the key to his creative process. “Once a new idea is presented to me, it must be acted on. This constant reinvention infuses challenges into the work, but ultimately fulfills me.”

Brandon Altman (b. 1996) is a painter and mixed media artist based in Pontiac, MI. As an outsider artist, his work is the result of a creative compulsion to shed light on unsung aspects of our past. Through collecting and repurposing discarded materials, he weaves new narratives while preserving fragments of their core.

The exhibition is on view through Saturday, March 9th with Viewing Hours from Thursday-Saturday 12-5pm, or by appointment. Save the date for his upcoming Artist Talk on Saturday, March 2nd.

ON VIEW: “Stripped” (2.10-3.09) is a Solo Exhibition by Brandon Altman (@altmanart) of his mixed-media series, “Stripped,” exploring the concept of leading to wholeness.

As an outsider artist, Altman’s self-taught practice utilizes painting, collage and assemblage, often including vintage source images from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

“It’s an era that elicits anemoia, or the nostalgia for a time one never experienced. It was the first time that the tears in the American fabric started to show, including civil unrest and creative exploration that awakened popular youth culture. We never reckoned with it, thus are still feeling the effects today. This disillusionment of the American Dream remains a consistent theme in my work which can be seen in both the figurative paintings and abstraction.”
