It is with both pride and sadness that I announce that Altman Siegel will close its doors to the public on November 22, 2025. As it has become too difficult for a gallery this size to scale in this climate, I have made the incredibly tough decision to close rather than diminish either the space or the commitment to exhibit conceptually uncompromising work.⁠ ⁠ The gallery has served as a valuable local platform for international conversations. Over the past 16 years, Altman Siegel has been proud to cultivate a program of prominent Bay Area artists and introduce international artists to San Francisco for the first time. The artists amplified by the gallery program create radical moments in art history. Whether they highlight social issues, respond to difficult questions about society or rethink traditional subjects and mediums, Altman Siegel has strived to exhibit artists who ask urgent questions and force the viewer to think in a new way. Our artists have participated in major exhibitions and biennials, entered significant institutional collections, and received global recognition.⁠ I would like to thank the Bay Area community, who have wholeheartedly supported the gallery.⁠ ⁠ To my extraordinary staff, past and present, and the many freelancers and interns who dedicated their time and energy—thank you. The gallery has been fortunate to retain a core team over the years, a reflection of the collaborative spirit we built together. Don't miss your final opportunity to experience Lynn Hershman Leeson's solo exhibition, "About Time," closing tomorrow, October 11, 2025 ⏰⁠ ⁠ At the center of Hershman Leeson's latest exhibition is an antibody engineered to reverse aging: "Eternally Yours," features several syringes full of the refrigerated injectable, stored at 38 degrees. Developed by Hershman Leeson alongside Dr. Tomas Huber and a private pharmaceutical lab in China, the serum serves to reverse aging one day at a time, each time it is administered. The genetic makeup of this protein-based antigen has now been adopted by the lab Hershman Leeson contracted for the project, and is currently being offered commercially throughout Asia as an antidote to aging. "It is not far to the sea," a solo exhibition by Shinpei Kusanagi opens October 17 and will be on view at Altman Siegel until November 15, 2025.⁠ ⁠ Alongside Kusanagi’s acrylic on canvas paintings, this exhibition features a new series of framed pigments. Created during short windows of time at his kitchen table, these works emerge from a need to sustain a studio practice outside of the studio. Demonstrating the adaptability of his methods across media, these impressionistic moments bleed together on the page, mirroring the mutability of memory itself. Edges amble into one another, soft and transferable. Titled with only with the date of their creation, these meditative, semi-abstractions explore themes of existence, time, and human consciousness. Grant Mooney's new commission and first institutional exhibition in the UK, "sphere music​," is on view at Chisenhale Gallery (@chisenhalegallery) until 7 December 2025. ⁠ ⁠ Occupying intermediary positions between abstract, autonomous, and site-specific sculpture, the work of Mooney is concerned with tactility and connectivity.​ The artist draws on theoretical comparisons of the body’s nervous system to vibratory networks, exploring the building and its flows as having the potential to generate volatile atmospheres of action, exchange, dependency, and feeling.⁠ ⁠ ​I​mages:⁠ Grant Mooney, sphere music, 2025. Altman Siegel is pleased to announce "It is not far to the sea," an exhibition of new paintings by Shinpei Kusanagi, on view from October 17 through November 15, 2025.⁠ ⁠ The older I get,⁠ the closer I get to the end,⁠ the more my body becomes transparent,⁠ the lighter it becomes.⁠ That process.
