A happy first heavenly birthday and 80th overall to my father. I like to believe you'd be proud of the low-key toughness and resolve your three kids have shown in the eight months since your passing.

I'm happy you found mom so quickly after her passing, even though I'm sure you're both probably fighting over the remote... again.

I've often felt myself lean on your lessons while navigating multiple aspects of this new world. And yeah, I'm still cursing at the television screen like you every fall with the Jets now off to their umpteenth 1-2 start.

You're missed tremendously, but always loved more. Thank you for all you did and for all the lessons I'll continue to carry.

Being an adult means it’s ok to admit when you’ve made a bad choice. The frozen bourbon Cherry Coke was a bad choice (note: prepared properly, just did not activate the palate properly).

Sometimes a different vantage point makes a world of difference. Was able to snag a second-row seat for @violentvira, @halestormrocks, and @babymetal_official last night and all three were fantastic. Don’t know a lot about Violent Vira, but “Saccahrine”shows their upside.

Felt like Lizzie and #Halestorm have come into their own in the two years since seeing them last. Big energy, big sound, big confidence.

#Babymetal is always quality, and I love Su’s voice (Moa and Momo too!) but seeing them up close really put the spotlight on the choreography. It’s wild to realize over the course of a show it’s over a 1,000 little moves almost all in perfect sync.

Pret-tay, pret-tay good for a first concert in 16 years at PNC.

I’m going to believe that my mother the English Literature professor was smiling down on us last night when #IronMaiden opened with Murders in the Rue Morgue and also had Phantom of the Opera and Rime of the Ancient Mariner on the set list.

When my friend and I last saw them in Brooklyn for the Future Past Tour, we were ok with it potentially being our last time seeing them, but with a little bit of a lament given Nicko wasn’t fully on his game that night and retired from touring shortly thereafter.

This show, however, was the proper send off if indeed the last one. Bruce in full throat, Dave just playing away in the corner like he has for all 50 years, and Adrian, Steve, and Jannick just humming along like a well-oiled machine.

And Simon Dawson?

To quote Shaq, “I owe you an apology. I was unfamiliar with your game.” Dude brought it. In full. Creates a different energy they feed off. Was very apparent.

12/10 would do again. #UpTheIrons
