Ate well. Slept well. Trained all spring.

Still got wrecked above treeline.

That's not a fitness problem. That's an oxygen problem. At altitude, your body delivers less with every breath — no matter how prepared you are.

Altitude did that. by @alturaperformance

Your body makes energy differently at altitude. And most people don't know it.

At elevation, lower oxygen availability forces your cells to work harder to produce the same amount of energy they'd generate effortlessly at sea level. The result: you fatigue faster, recover slower, and hit walls you shouldn't be hitting.

Cordyceps has been used by Himalayan communities for centuries at elevations most people will never reach.

Modern research points to why: it supports the way your cells produce energy under oxygen-limited conditions — helping your body do more with the thinner air it has. by @alturaperformance

Somewhere around 8,000 ft, getting the fly right and getting enough air feel like equally hard problems.

That sluggish, foggy feeling you get in the mountains?

It's not burnout. It's not age. It's not that you're out of shape.

It's the altitude.

Above 5,000 ft, your body is working with less oxygen — and you feel it whether you're hiking a 14er or just trying to function on a Tuesday morning in Denver.

The fog, the heavy legs, the "why am I this tired" feeling? Completely normal. Completely fixable. by @alturaperformance

More of this. Less of everything else.

There's a version of your week that ends here. Boots on dirt, trees all around, nothing on the agenda but getting to that campsite.

Here's your reminder to get outside in a place that fills your cup. Your emails aren't going anywhere, but your window to get out to places like this might be. by @alturaperformance

Altitude doesn't just tax your body. It dulls your mind.

At elevation, reduced oxygen doesn't only slow your legs — it slows your thinking. Reaction time, focus, decision-making. The thin air affects all of it, and most people never connect the two.

How we experience the outdoors is a reflection of how our bodies feel in that moment.

Did you feel strong on that hike, run, bike ride? Did you have enough breath to look up from your front tire to take in the view?

Or were you doubled over, constantly wiping the sweat from your eyes and wondering when that climb was going to end?

Altitude has a way of pushing us all into that second scenario, no matter how well trained we are. It's the ultimate humbling variable.

Push back. Enjoy the view.

That 'hangover' after a ski day? You barely drank.

Here's what's actually happening: at altitude, your body loses water significantly faster — and most of it isn't from sweating. Every breath you exhale carries more moisture than it would at sea level. By the time you're riding the last chair, you're already behind.

On top of that, lower air pressure means your blood carries less oxygen with every pump. Your heart is working harder all day just to keep up with normal output. When you stop moving, your body has a much bigger deficit to dig out of than it would after the same effort at sea level.

That's why two beers feels like six. That's why your legs are cement the next morning. That's why you sleep for nine hours and wake up feeling like you didn't sleep at all.

It's not the alcohol. It's not your fitness. It's the physiology of high altitude — and most people never make the connection.

Staying ahead of it means hydrating more aggressively than feels necessary, replacing electrolytes before you feel depleted, and giving your body real recovery support overnight. by @alturaperformance

The best days at altitude don't happen by accident.

There's a version of race day, or any day on the mountain, where your legs show up, your lungs cooperate, and you're actually smiling at mile eight instead of just surviving it.

That version exists. It just requires giving your body what altitude is taking from it.
More oxygen efficiency. Better hydration. Real recovery the night before.

Cheers to more smiles at altitude. 🏔️

Rhodiola doesn't grow at sea level. Neither does your best performance.

This plant has been used for centuries by communities living at high altitude — Tibetan, Andean, Scandinavian — specifically to help the body cope with the physical stress of thin air.

Here's why it's in Altura's formula:
Rhodiola is an adaptogen, meaning it helps your body adapt to physical and environmental stress. At altitude, that stress is constant — lower oxygen availability, harder breathing, slower recovery, disrupted sleep.

Research suggests rhodiola may support oxygen utilization efficiency, reduce perceived exertion, and help buffer the fatigue that altitude accelerates.

It's not a shortcut. It's what grows where the air is thin — and what belongs in a formula built for the same conditions.

You thought camping was a recovery activity.

Then you woke up at 2am staring at the tent ceiling — exhausted, but wide awake.

Here's what's actually happening: at altitude, lower oxygen levels trigger more frequent micro-arousals during sleep. Your body is literally waking itself up to breathe more efficiently. Less time in deep, restorative sleep. Less muscle repair. Less recovery. More "why do I feel like this?"

It doesn't matter how tired you are going in. Altitude disrupts the sleep your body needs to rebuild.

This is one of the most common and most overlooked effects of elevation. And it happens whether you're in a tent at 10,000 ft or a hotel room in Denver.

Altura's formula addresses altitude recovery, including support for the sleep quality that thin air disrupts.

Rest like you're at sea level. Perform like you're built for the altitude.

Your fitness is fine. The air is the problem.

Most supplements were built for the gym. The track. The pool. Sea level.

Nobody built one for the mountain, for the hiker who lives at 7,000 ft and wonders why easy trails feel hard. For the skier who's wrecked by day two. For the trail runner whose fitness is there but whose body won't cooperate above treeline.

Altura Performance is the first supplement system engineered specifically for high-altitude performance. Not repurposed. Not rebranded. Built from the ground up for thin air.

Train harder. Go longer. Recover faster. At altitude.

This is what we built. Follow along. 🏔️ by @alturaperformance
