“Gagak Parit” a protest poem written by A. Samad Said @a_samadsaid in 1991 warned us about capitalist greed:

1. Dungu (fools) who flattens the rimba (forests) - Kalimantan forest fires
2. Pesara (retiree) gasping for air and bayi (baby) having respiratory seizures - hazardous API levels
3. Klinik sesak sepagi (crowded mornings at government health clinics)
4. Pangsapuri (apartments - data centers) and parit (drains - cooling systems and power grids)
5. Gagak kejang (dying stiffened crow) - dead birds falling from the sky
6. Kemakmuran jasmani (materialistic prosperity)

In 1992, it was translated into a heavily altered and sanitised version in English (The Dead Crow), taught in Malaysian secondary schools to produce a generation of passive and obedient citizens.

Why fear art if it’s only for decoration purposes?

“tenun” - a weave of scraped data repurposed deceivingly as art, reflecting the ouroboros relationship between man and machine.
