witnessing history at The MICHELIN France & Monaco Ceremony ⭐

so much of my life has been shaped by the @michelinguide . the meals that took my breath away. the restaurants I planned entire trips around. the moments sitting at a table somewhere in the world that I knew I’d never forget. food has always been how I experience places, people and memories.

that’s why being in Monaco, in that room, watching these chefs receive their stars was so emotional. you can only imagine the dedication and passion it took to get there.

feeling very grateful to have been part of it, and consider this a sign to pack your bags to France and eat your way around 😌

thought it was time for a reintroduction since we hit 40K last week! thanks for being the biggest group of friends I can confide in 🥹

I still remember a year and a half ago, I was so terrified to start this account, afraid of being judged or coming off as cringey. and tbh that fear still creeps in sometimes, but I wouldn’t trade this journey for the world. it’s connected me with amazing people, built a supportive community, and brought opportunities I never could’ve imagined - appreciate y’all 🤍

they don’t call it the food capital of europe for no reason 🤭

I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to every single place on my list but managed to tick off a few and really experience what the pintxos culture is all about!

the town itself is also gooorg and time should (beyond eating) definitely be spent walking along the beach, bopping around the local streets and discover some local boutiques and cafes. loved it

I decided I didn’t want to keep scrolling through san sebastián videos while drooling so I finally booked the flight 😄

it’s hard not to have high expectations when everywhere you look the city is being called one of the world’s best food destinations. here are my honest thoughts of some viral spots:

📍Bar Néstor: come for the txuleta steak and tomatoes. pass on the peppers and I unfortunately missed their famous tortilla.
📍Gandarias: skip the steak pintxo and go straight for the sea urchin. personally preferred it over Bar Sport.
📍Bar Sport: this is where the hype got ahead of the experience for me
📍La Cuchara de San Telmo: a big YES. the suckling pig and octopus are must-tries.
📍La Viña: the origin of the basque cheesecake that’s sooo worth the stop.

tried what people claimed to be the best cheesecake in the world 🌝 if you go in san sebastián these days, it’s easy to wonder if a place is actually worth it or just hyped on social media. truth is food is so subjective and everyone has different opinions and that’s ok.

personally this cheesecake was IT. loved the balance between the caramelized top and the silky, custard-like centre. it looks super rich but it actually doesn’t feel too heavy or overly sweet (the asian in me was worried)

atmosphere were giving neighbourhood institution and eating it street side was a whooole vibe. don’t miss it!!

I went from going back to europe once every two years to now trying to go back at least twice a year 😂

a big reason is definitely because of family, but besides that:
1. I miss the slower european lifestyle at times. big city life is exciting but also so fast-paced that going back feels like a reset I didn’t know I needed.
2. hong kong rainy season is NOT it and I refuse to let it ruin my summer. If I get the chance to escape it, I’m taking it.
3. life’s too short to keep saying, “maybe next summer” so if a travel plan pops up in the group chat and I’m committed.

9 years and counting… 🤍

it’s so crazy to believe how much of my life has happened here. I moved here as a university student, graduated, took the chance to start my own business, and somehow built a life I never could’ve imagined back then. 
living abroad gives you sooo much, but it’s also uncomfortable at times. it forces you to figure things out on your own and adapt quickly. I do think that’s where most of the growth happened.

hong Kong might not be for everyone, and I think that’s okay. It’s a city that moves fast and constantly pushes you outside your comfort zone. but fast forward to today I can honestly say I’m so glad I took the leap. this city has challenged me, surprised me, and given me way more opportunities I never expected.

rainy season, but business as usual 🫡 you can always count on the weather to turn on us on the days that matter most but hey that’s life.

we’ve also been working on a few things behind the scenes. a couple of our pastries have had some upgrades, and we’ve added a few new treats I’m really excited for you all to try! running a café means you’re never really “done.” we’re always tasting, tweaking, and trying to make things a little better.

not to get too sappy, but I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s stopped by to say hi, grab a coffee, or support our little café. at the end of the day, it’s the people that make the place special. come by, grab your usual (or try something new) and let us know what you think 🫶🏼🫶🏼
