Save this before your Bali trip 💌 Ungatekeeping where to eat in Bali as a foodie who’s been eating my way around the globe — the hits and the misses. We tried spots across Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu so you don’t have to guess.

The hits: All the restaurants I included in this guide HITS. Miyo was genuinely so good — just know it can get pricey.
The misses: Copenhagen matcha latte was a miss for me. The cafe felt a little overhyped.

I read Ikigai a few years ago and I’ve been wanting to visit Okinawa ever since. It is said to be one of the happiest places in Japan, and famous for its people living long, meaningful lives.

These 6 Okinawan philosophies really stuck with me:
1. Find your ikigai — your reason to live
It doesn’t have to be some big ambition. It could be cooking, gardening, spending time with family or anything that brings you joy. Life doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be meaningful.

2. Yuimaaru — Help one another
Because a good life is built together, not alone.

3. Nankurunaisa — Everything will be alright
Do your best, but don’t try to control everything. Sometimes you just have to trust that things will work out.

4. Hara Hachi Bu — Eat until you’re 80% full
This one’s going to be tough because I love eating ☺️

5. Moai — Your lifelong circle
Surround yourself with people you want to grow old with. Friendships that last a lifetime 🫶✨

6. Okinawan time — slow down
Not every moment needs to be productive. Sometimes it’s okay to just exist and enjoy the little things.

I think what I love most about these philosophies is that happiness doesn’t always come from achieving more, having more or doing more.
