Imagine discovering a novel antibiotic and giving the proceeds to the people who need it most. That is what we are doing at KR-Biosystems. Doing good is not supposed to be a marketing strategy. But this time is different. We are living in a moment where it is harder than ever to know which companies to believe in, and where people are being asked to choose between nature and artificial intelligence as if those two things have to be opposed. They do not. Abandoned infrastructure sits empty in cities across this country while pristine ecosystems get paved over for things those cities could already hold. Pesticides show up in air samples in places no agriculture or industry has ever existed. Biomagnification is not a debate. I think the world needs a company it can actually believe in. A company built on real science. A company created by two scientists who built what they wish existed. This is a love story, rooted in natural product chemistry. I met my first true love at 24, at Michigan State University, during a season when I had outgrown old versions of myself. Old habits no longer fit. Some friendships had grown stale, tied to a less mature version of who I was becoming. Letting go was uncomfortable, but necessary. Late nights at the bar gave way to long nights in the lab, where curiosity about natural products became a disciplined search for antimicrobial activity as a gateway to anticancer discovery. What emerged was more than a research project. It was a scientific treasure chest, one I was able to carry beyond the university and continue developing, drawing attention across national laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, agriculture, and specialized markets. Growth, in science and in life, often requires the courage to release what no longer serves us. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. often spoke about the courage required to grow beyond comfort. Aspergillus species produce mycotoxins that drive downstream risk across food systems, agriculture, indoor environments, and healthcare. Reducing that risk starts upstream, by understanding and interrupting organism biology rather than reacting after failures occur. 
Same organism. Same toxin biology. Interrupted by tree-derived chemistry. A small personal note. I am in a serious time-conservation mode right now, so I have comments turned off. Biology can be a surprisingly controversial topic at times, and after five years on Instagram, I am grateful that this space has remained thoughtful and kind. I know I have been a bit absent here lately, and I appreciate your patience. Most of my free time has been spent in conversations with investors and deep in pitch decks, working to translate years of research into something that can be responsibly scaled. Building at the intersection of human health, agriculture, and environmental protection requires care, and that focus has left little room for much else for a short while. What began as academic research has grown into a platform with far broader implications than I initially imagined.
