I spent my day celebrating. Or at least I tried. Lol.
Celebrating me.
25 years ago yesterday, I went for my first motorcycle ride. And the guy driving hit a concrete partition wall going through an S curve at 55 mph. Both of my legs were “broken” (one was shattered from the knee down) and a small chunk came from the back of my head when the helmet broke open.
So why am I celebrating?!
Because I survived that. And I did it with gusto. And I have survived every day for the last 25 years the same way.
With energy, with a positive attitude, ignoring the occasional stutter, and with sass.
It doesn’t matter to me that I hurt every day. Because I am stronger than that. As we all are.
I stay positive. I am walking despite what the doctors said. I am a fully functional adult and even a business owner.
I have used my trauma and experiences to help others going through similar situations. And I’m pretty sure that’s why I survived it all. To help.
And I do it all with a smile on my face.
And frankly, I’m pretty sure that makes me a bit of a badass. ☺️ by @alwaysaleda

Today is what Sarah calls my Life Day.
Which is appropriate. But sometimes a bit strange to me as well. I think we all have one of them. Whether we know it or not. Some more traumatic than others.
But I think the important part is to be aware of all of the beautiful days we have ahead of us.
I would never wish my experiences in that regard on anyone. But I CAN use the trauma I went through to help and support others. So that’s what I do. (Breaking both of your legs and the back of your head in a motorcycle accident is no joke. lol) But 24 years later, here I am!!
So today I took one of my wee pigs to the market to help spread some joy. I may ask my husband to get me sushi for dinner. I might pick up my paints and do some watercolors. Or I might just spend the rest of the day watching documentaries and sorting ideas in my life books.
Who knows?
But I know I will do it with a grateful heart and a lot of love. The really important things.

Our New Year’s Day paintings!!
As you can see, we’ve done this for ten years now. And every year they’re a little different. This year mine is 3d with pressed and dried flowers, Husbands is a colorful cow, Declan’s is a tree nightscape, and Griffin’s is a pirate ship. I love how this wall is turning out and evolving over the years.
