The BIGGEST Is Getting Her BSN! 🩺

To the School of Nursing, thank you for the most challenging four semesters preparing me to be the most successful nurse and cultivate my career. You have taught me resilience, adaptation, and I am confident leaving that I will be an amazing and caring nurse. With a 99 percent probability of passing the NCLEX and a national 99th-percentile score on my exit exam, I am walking into this profession prepared and proud.

To my mom, we did it! Two nurses. Two generations. One testimony. From watching her chase her dreams to walking in my own. We have been through so much together, trials and tribulations. But your only baby is finally done with nursing school. FAMU has stressed both of us out but it is finally over. I knew from the moment I opened your nursing books and watched you get pinned that I was destined to follow in your footsteps. You are a wonderful mother and I cannot wait to show you how wonderful of a nurse I will be. I would say I can’t wait to work next to you, but I’m ready to retire you.

And most importantly, thank you God. For I am nothing without Him.

Thanks For Having Me Class of ‘26, But I’ll Be Leaving With Class of ‘25 🩷

To FAMU, thank you for showing me how to adapt to different climates of people and never conform to the masses. Tallahassee is a concentrated melting pot that has put me through things I never imagined. But I am a determined perserverer and I will weather any storm. From a small country town in New Jersey to all over Atlanta (literally), thank you for reminding this young woman to always be her self and never let her environment change who she is meant to be or stray her from the path ahead. Oh and thanks for the degree!

To Aunt Tracey, my last memory of you was in the hospital, an image stained in my brain forever. I don’t even know if you knew I was there but I will never forget our last moments together. Seeing you in a coma and hooked up to machines I didn’t even know the name of was a lot for a child to take in. But watching cancer progressively take you from me inspired me to go into the ICU and take care of patients how I wish I could have taken care of you. Every birthday and graduation hurts with you not there physically but I always feel you spiritually. You had so much faith in me and knew I was born to be great. I wish you could see me now but I keep you on my leg to walk with me everyday. I love you so much, my forever angel. I lost you when I was ten years old, and I’ve carried you with me every day since. This is for you, and for my uncle and my two grandfathers who I lost during my final year of nursing school. Even though they aren’t here to see me accomplish everything they knew I would, I carry all of you with me through every step of this journey.
