I love how in more densely forested places, you can hear the breeze before you feel it.

The ginkgo tree in our yard has turned the most beautiful shade of golden yellow. A treat for my eyes. When the breeze moves gently through its branches the beautiful fan-shaped leaves begin to dance. It’s like the whole tree seems to shimmer.

Taking the time to notice these little moments is so nourishing. A quiet reminder of how much beauty there is in the ordinary. by @alwaysnydia

Snail mail! I’ve been thinking (and thinking and thinking and thinking) about relaunching my happy mail club and the universe was like, “oh yeah? Let me get some cool folks to order stickers from you.” And now I have one package going to a shop in Texas and another to California… and it was so fun to put them together. Truly. I gotta get my club going again. 💕 by @alwaysnydia

This past weekend, we went camping. We’ve been dreaming, planning, and working on this trip for a couple of years now and we made it happen. We spent two chilly nights and three days outside with our families and friends, and strangers that became friends. We went birding, we went on an ethnobotany hike. We had pancakes made from acorn flour. We cooked community meals. Our kids played from sun up til sun down. We had s’mores and storytime by the fire at night. We talked, and laughed, and cried from getting campfire smoke in our eyes. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. 10/10 recommend (minus the smokey tears)… would definitely do it again and we’re looking forward to the next trip. Im thankful to everyone who joined us and for my hubby and our community partners for reigniting my love for camping. Follow @dripandculture @weare_ccl and @lfopenlands for more… 🌷 by @alwaysnydia

I call these momentitos de paz… the little moments when I stop long enough to enjoy nature just being nature. Sometimes I record. Sometimes I don’t.

The bees were all over the pollinator garden today, and I stood there watching them for a while. No fixing, no finding what needs to be done next, no noticing what could look better. Just noticing.

I think we need more of that.

I hope this gives you a little momentito de paz, too. 🐝🌿 by @alwaysnydia

A special Tuesday morning at @gathrcreativestudio ✨

This week we had the honor of welcoming @senatordurbin into our space for a conversation with local small business owners and community leaders about business, community, and some of the challenges we’re facing right now.

I was especially struck by what a thoughtful listener Senator Durbin is. You can tell by the questions he asks that he is genuinely listening and wants to understand. We’re incredibly grateful for the time he spent with us and for all the work he has done for our communities over the years.

It was surreal to see this little space I’ve been pouring so much love into used for a conversation like this. It felt very much like what I hoped Gathr could be. A place for people to come together, talk, listen, create, and build community. by @alwaysnydia

I made these. With my hands. And my mind was quiet, but free. Free to think of beautiful starts and ends and in-betweens. And it did. And that’s why I love making art. Because it sets me free. 🦋 by @alwaysnydia

My first two stained glass projects. I’ll show you the finished products when I get some good pictures. Soldering was a little heartbreaking, not gonna lie. Lol… by @alwaysnydia

This was one of our Patreon stickers of the month. I love, love, love making art that’s inspired by Mexican culture, but also adding a bit of a modern twist. by @alwaysnydia

From the 2021 vault. I think I shared most of these… maybe. by @alwaysnydia
