I hit $10k paid off my mortgage principle today. Took 19 months, but I’m doing it solo while living paycheck to paycheck, so it felt worth celebrating. For anyone else doing life solo and making it work in this hellscape of an economy designed for couples, I see you. Anyway. Celebrate the little wins like they’re big ones, otherwise you’ll only cry when you look at the interest paid alongside. by @aly_anne

Duotone Doppio sweaters for my sissy and me 💚💚

I made a few mods to mine (which are all listed on my Rav), but over all I wanted to make a dark and light set to show how we can be so different but also two sides of the same coin.

Just got back from an incredible week long site visit with my good pal @krisstocks. We spent four days deep cleaning timbers recovered from le Machault, and learning so much about the area and the final naval battle it participated in. I’m also deeply grateful for the team at LHN Bataille-de-la-Restigouche, who made the process so much fun. It’s Just Do It July again! The last few years I’ve been challenging my self to spend July just doing the stuff I’d been putting off personally, professionally, and for hobbies! Thankfully it’s a good self motivator and I actually get stuff done.
.
I know I won’t finish all of these (and there are four more WIPs I didn’t photograph), but I think I’ll be able to get a few done and lots of progress of some of the others.
.
1. A Tolsta Tee in @alleycatyarns that just needs hem ribbing; a pair of scrappy socks that just need toes, and a Musselburgh that will become my next transit project.
2. My Doppio for @meg.drea that I haven’t picked up in a few weeks but want to finish so I can start my matching one.
3. A scrappy infinity cowl (started in 2022) that only needs a few more stripes before grafting; and a Diaphanous Raglan in @frankiegreyfibres that has been on hold b/c my gauge is off and I need to do some math 🙈.
4. My Kip sweater that I have no excuse for not finishing earlier; and the very humble beginnings of a Ballard sweater for @meg.drea that I just haven’t had the brain space for (cables, am I right?).
5. My second longest standing WIP, my Stria cardigan that only needs sleeves. But half fisherman’s rib on 2.75 mm needles though… 🫠

I did go through my WIPs earlier this year and frogged several. I’m glad I did cause this pile feels so much less overwhelming! Let’s see how much we get done, I’ll keep y’all posted. 💜 by @aly_anne

Nothing like a transatlantic red eye flight to prime you for a beautiful & emotional wedding. Flew in, met up with K&S, went straight up to Ipswich and I managed to stay awake long enough for pints with Em. A wee day trip to Bury St Edmunds, then Em & Liam’s wedding (phone free!) with some Cardiff pals. Back to London the day after for a spin through some historical spots: Romeo & Juliet at the Globe Theatre, Kensington Palace for the Dress Codes exhibit, and climbing the dome at St Paul’s. Today may have started with a cancelled flight home & a ten hour delay, but even the rain can’t take the shine off this whirlwind. So honoured to have been invited to celebrate E&L, and grateful to catch up with pals along the way. Em - you looked so happy and beautiful, may you both find joy in the everyday, together. Love you. 💜

I spent some time this long weekend swatching up for the #EKFdoppioKAL, and think I’ve found my perfect combo. I had originally planned to combine @explorerknits Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon & Vantnajökull with @fullmoonfibres Willow mohair (option 1, swipe to see a labelled swatch photo), but quickly realized the high contrast just wasn’t for me. After some trial and error I settled on swapping out the the moody green Canyon for a soft mint from Sandnes Garn (option 4), and I’m convinced this is going to be the perfect neutral with just a hint of glow from the mohair. 😍
I’m still planning to use Canyon in a Doppio though! I’m going to bring it with me to Knit City Montreal this year and make finding its matches my festival goal. So that being said, @meg.drea I may be convinced to part with this neutral Doppio sweater since I already have plans for its dark and moody counterpart. 😉
