Meet our Costume Designer: @alyhhernandez

Aly Hernandez is a costume designer and actor based in NYC. She is absolutely in love with the power of storytelling through clothes. She enjoys highlighting the actors’ individuality through the world of the play, with tiny details that are full of personality and story. She is so excited to play dress up with this new production of Spring Awakening.

Recent credits include: Costume Designer for The New Sincerity(Vino Theater), Assistant Costume Designer for Show Trial (BNH/The Tank), and Costume Designer for The Antipodes (NYU TACT). Website: www.alyhernandez.com

nyu c/o 2025! she’s got a BFA!! 💜

18 year old me moved to NYC with two suitcases and a dream. since then, she became a first generation college graduate, an artist, and a happy human being filled with so much passion, love, and joy. someone important to me once said they never went to bed the same person they were when they woke up, they always did something to better themselves. that piece of advice changed my life and got me through college. it made me the person and artist i am today. i am so grateful to be surrounded by the people i cherish and the work i love. overjoyed to be a storyteller for the rest of my life.

Highlighting the team that makes our actors shine, Costume Designer Aly Hernandez and Assistant Costume Designer, Mya Rosado! Frogs are Aly’s favorite animal and to her dismay she could not put everyone in frog onesies. Instead she took inspiration from some of the biggest icons in music history and from the classic all white Greek aesthetic. She fused the art of past and present with elements that allude to the script’s mythology as well as the adaptation’s current themes. by @alyhhernandez
