kind of hating this one so far…

i’ve avoided this specific window and it’s taken me months to try and finish.

pushing past the ugly middle phase is genuinely the most uncomfortable and hardest part of painting for me. i do this every time i’m halfway through a piece... i’ll stop for too long and then abandon it only to start five other random pieces, all because i hit a creative block and my energy runs out to problem solve and press on through the challenging parts. it’s been a learning curve to drop the perfectionism, trust the process and let it look awkward for a bit.

slowly forcing myself back into this... a work in progress update nonetheless because i know people are super keen on seeing this specific window finished 🐉

thank you @filmbyrenn for making these paintings look better in a photo than irl haha 🎨

icymi: a couple months ago i was featured as a piazza freo photography prize finalist for this photo of @darlingfreo. thank you @piazzafremantle for showcasing 🫶 it was so nice to see strangers taking their time to read the backstory and pull out their phones to vote. thanks to my fam and mates for voting and going to support 😭 although i didn’t win anything it was so cool to see my work up! especially a photo that was pretty impromptu.

posting this so late (along with other posts) bc i’m learning to celebrate and document my wins - no matter how big or small. i’ve always been too hard on myself, and want to move on to the next milestone quickly after achieving the last thing… but this is a good reminder to pause, take a moment and remember what i’m capable of!!

big up @fioriryan for being the reason this photo was taken and taking me to the coolest bar in perth 😎

📸 cheesing very hard for @ksbeckylee here. thanks for taking this photo of me becky <3
