Blue and purple form a visual loop. Because purple already contains blue, pairing them together quietens the red undertones and creates an cohesive, calming gradient.

In color theory, this is what makes an analogous palette so powerful. Purple is inherently a color of internal tension between the high energy of red and the tranquility of blue. Your brain is essentially trying to process two different extremes at the same time.
But when you overlay blue right next to it, the presence of blue dominates, absorbing the restless energy of the hidden red and shifts the brain toward calm

If you ever feel like your outfit is missing something, try these 3 things..

1. Statement pieces | fur coats, colourful bags, bright hair accessories, cool shoes… anything that makes the outfit feel a little less basic
2. Scarves | pick a colour that compliments your outfit, or switch it up and tie it around your waist. Such an easy way to add another layer without adding much
3. A third colour | my favourite one. If you already have two colours in your outfit, adding a third can make the whole look feel so much more intentional. It is probably the easiest way to elevate an outfit without changing much

On another note, I never thought navy would make that much difference until I tried it instead of black.

Still wearing black leggings all the time, they’re not going anywhere, but when there is colour in the outfit, I think navy let’s it stand out!

The baby yellow against black would have just been a bright top on a dark outfit (which still would have looked awesome) but against navy… I LOVE

A simple way to make a neutral outfit feel more intentional is to start with your base colours and then introduce one unexpected accent

Here, the white jeans and singlet are my base, the blue cover up adds colour and the red belt and accessories brings in a small contrast that makes the outfit feel more considered. The brown woven bag ties everything together without competing with the colour palette.

Sometimes, a little more colour is all you need!!
