My heart feels so heavy without you.

Our epic decade together began on February 22, 2015 as I drove to see your Nonni, completely broken and on the losing end of a battle with anxiety. On a whim I drove past my exit, I saw you I instantly fell in love. I knew you were the piece I was missing. You fearlessly entered the war zone that was my mind without hesitation to get me through to the other side unscathed. You saved me, in every way a person can be saved.

9 years, 6 months & 23 days I got to be the luckiest person on the Earth to call myself your mom & love you with every fiber of my being. In that time you stood by my side, offering unwavering loyalty, comfort, never once faltered in your love or devotion for me.

You were more than just a “dog” you were my rock, my best friend, my constant, my source of comfort & beacon of strength. You were my whole world & it feels like that world has stopped spinning since you left it.

Thank you for being my guardian angel, my soulmate. Your love will remain in my heart always & your legacy will live on through the lives you touched with your gentle soul & will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing you.

I will never be able to comprehend why you. Why you got sick when you were so good and pure and selfless. 3 years with health complications & every time you defied the odds. It’s hitting me really hard that I couldnt save you this time, I believed I could heal you with my love, the way you had done for me so many times and I’m sorry I couldn’t give you the additional years you so deserved.

I’ll never say goodbye to you. I’ll tell you what I’ve always told you, Mommy will be right back & I can’t wait to see you again. For now I’ll settle for you visiting me in my dreams. Keep sending me signs that you’re still with me my big earred girl.
