Oh my beautiful Sheila. I wanted so many more years of her in my life.

Sheila and my mom have always been my north star of what friendship looks like. Best friends since high school, always there for each other, through every bit of joy and every hard moment too.

When Sheila was diagnosed with cancer when I was a kid, my mom traveled with her so many times - to explore treatment options, to fly to Houston for each treatment, always by her side.

When she was in full remission, we all went on a cruise to celebrate. It was a monumental moment in our lives, and all these years later, the new treatment that healed her has become the gold standard for how to treat the type of cancer she once had.

I spent absolutely countless days growing up at Sheila’s house. Summers swimming in her pool, cookouts, movies outside, sticking those little things from trees to our noses, and laughing forever because Sheila was so damn funny. Some of my happiest memories of my childhood all happened in her backyard.

My mom said to me this week: “we always talked about you like you were *our* daughter.” I truly always felt like I was. I called her “Oo-ah” when I was too tiny to say her name, then got to watch my tiny girl fall in love with her too.

Having a bonus mom who loved me so big, inspired me to live a big beautiful life full of fun, and who was truly chosen family for me since the day I was born.. what a gift she was to me and my entire family.

I’m flying to NJ this weekend to celebrate her life. I’ll be there for my birthday, and I’ve had so many moments where I feel like I’ll get to see her when I’m there. How lucky I was to have her as my “other mother”, and how terribly I’ll miss her for the rest of my life. by @alyssalruth

Rosewood was a dream 💕 The California sunshine, the incredible design, and a team who feel limitless when we’re all together. Our Curated team’s capabilities with @skylinetentcompany tenting, @seehearpro scenic and production, @casadeperrin tabletop, and @curatedeventscollective rentals + custom textiles, all came together in this design by the @julianleaver events team.

It’s such a thrill to work hard to help bring an event to life, then toss on a dress and attend it. Thank you @rosewoodsandhill, @julianleaver, @grace_julianleaver, @flowersbyedgar, + @somethingpainted_events for being the true dream team, @dj_malike_ for playing beyoncé for me and such a great convo, and @kylajeanette for capturing it so beautifully.

Grateful to be part of such big inspiring creative productions, and to get to do it all with such an incredible group of people 🫶

My hermanita’s big day! @luisa_alfiler has always been equal parts cousin and sister to me. Seeing her be such a beautiful joyful bride, seeing the love and community that surrounds her, and seeing her celebrate love so big with her beloved hubs was truly the best. Eating, dancing, laughing, hugging, and crying with my family is life-giving. Best night, best trip 🤍 by @alyssalruth

I rarely struggle to find words to express myself, but last week I just couldn’t put words to paper to share what I was feeling.

My uncle John passed away, and losing him floored me. I never would’ve imagined that the last time I saw him was the last time.

He was so endlessly supportive and kind, loved me and my family, and has been part of my life for thirty years.

When he fell in love with my Aunt Beth, I don’t know if he realized he was not only getting a beautiful stepdaughter in @gina_strumolo, but a bonus kid who would spend countless summer days, weekends, and holidays at his house.

He and his son @eric_jon_petho becoming my family truly shaped and changed my life. Gina, Eric and I started our lives as three only children, who all gained each other, then three more sisters when my cousins were adopted, and the love and friendships in my life just grew and grew. I visited Eric in FL and moved there a couple months later, and went on to meet some of my closest friends and my husband too. Having Josh and Lilly and the life I have now is all a ripple effect of John and Eric becoming my family.

It’s been over a decade since I lived in New Jersey, and still when people ask me what part of NJ I’m from, I feel compelled to share both my actual home and my Essex County roots. It’s where I trick or treated, swam every summer, went to then produced countless concerts, and truly grew up. It’s where my bonus family welcomed me over and over, all because Beth and John invited me in every time.

Thank you John, for loving us all so big, for making me laugh a million times, letting me have a million loud sleepovers at your house, and for a legacy of love and care you leave in all of us. I’m grateful for every bit of it, and for the chance I got to hug my people and to celebrate you. by @alyssalruth

Oh my goodness what a night 🩷 The most fun with the most wonderful people: the incredible women I spend my days with, my cracking-me-up-all-night emcee hubs, and a room full of friends I’m head over heels for. This community is one of one.

I had the best time co-presenting with @richardbarlowphoto, and the room pics are from his vintage (ahh, how old are we!) ‘99 digital point & shoot 📸

I cried real tears reflecting on the impact @deanogan has had on my life and career, and am beyond proud of @vix223 for wrapping the night with his beautiful lifetime achievement award speech. Then off to the dance floor til the very last song 🎶

What an overwhelming honor it is to do what we do in service to others, and make so many incredible friends along the way 🩷 I love you all!

I recently had the opportunity to work with @amybpaulson doing this showroom session, and what a gift it was to spend time with her. Thank you Amy for such intentional time with me - it was so full of laughter and reflection. So many things about this trip changed less than a day before we left for it, and somehow it ended up being one of my favorite vacations we’ve ever taken ❤️ We woke up to giraffes and zebras, caught one sunny warm pool day before it was time for winter coats, and had the best time bopping around the parks, enjoying some of our favorite things and lots of new ones too. I’m still dreaming of sanaa bread service, palm trees, and holding hands with my two favorite people 🫶 by @alyssalruth

What a week ❤️ Our annual sales & leadership summits are some of the most inspiring, uplifting times of my professional life. I’m so grateful I get to team up every day with a brilliant, hardworking, kind group of event pros. It’s a dream come true. Thank you Curated Events for believing in us, investing in us, and bringing us all together to kick off the year.

Every day was a marathon and a sprint at the same time; two back-to-back summits is not a joke 😅 Some highlights that keep making me smile today:

-Seeing the teams that I’ve cultivated get to meet, connect, and become friends. Y’all, having two teams in two different states, and seeing each member of them grow personally and professionally, then seeing them laugh together and get to know each other - it filled my heart way, way up.

-Running a workshop at the sales summit about going above and beyond in the client experience. I loved tapping into that mindset to wrap up the summit, and hearing everyone’s thoughtful and creative stories. What a team we have representing Curated at every location.

-Making it out of the group text and the teams calls, and seeing the DOS squad in person. Getting to share life & leadership with them every week is the best, and having time to laugh and catch up together in person is even better 🫶

-Winning the above & beyond award at the leadership summit - an award honoring innovation, customer satisfaction, leadership, impact and commitment. Whew, to be chosen for that in a room full of people who excel at it - I’m beyond grateful 🥹

-Spending the week in sessions where perspectives and ideas are valued, where teammates can be real and engaged and vulnerable with each other, and where we can all take time to dig in and really work on growing both ourselves and our business - this is the good stuff y’all. There’s so much growth ahead, and I’m excited about every bit of it. Can’t wait for all that this year brings 🫶 taken in Charlotte, North Carolina by @alyssalruth

Happy 9th birthday to the love of my life, my little bird 🫶 Watching this little lady grow up and flourish is my greatest joy, and as much as I loved 8, I have a feeling 9 will be her best year yet ❤️
