POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
FINALLY! A new post! I’ve been super busy (and sometimes a bit overwhelmed 🙃) with work, other projects, and life things lately, so thank you all for being patient and sticking around! 🫶🏽

When people have asked me what I do, I’ve proudly responded with “I’m a Climate Designer!” Which is then often met with a confused look that the little Earth I drew is giving, which means I have some explaining to do 😅. It’s been a great way to get people to talk about climate change though 😜, if the person is curious and open, of course.

The journey of becoming a Climate Designer has been a long one, and a very tough/discouraging one at times too! Through the disappointment and imposter syndrome, but also through determination and reliance, I’ve gone from “a graphic designer passionate about climate change”, to a “Climate Creative”, to finally a ✨Climate Designer✨.

I’m so proud of all the progress I’ve made and the incredible organizations and people I’ve worked with along the way. Even putting this post was wild to realize how much I’ve been able to accomplish in a short amount of time, with people telling me to give up on this dream because it just wasn’t realistic or achievable (sometimes being stubborn pays off 🤣). This sounds extremely cheesy, but never give up on yourself or your dreams, no matter how crazy the world makes you feel. If you’re passionate enough, and if this is what you’re meant to do, the universe will guide you and keep opening doors. Stay optimistically stubborn, friends. 🩵✨🫧

Ok… not really climate related, and I’m actually a bit nervous about posting this 🙈🙃, but I thought it would only be fair for me to formally introduce myself now that I’ve hit 205 followers (😱🥹)! Not gonna lie, I’m very shy and have actually kind of liked only being the voice in my reels, and very occasionally popping up in them, but here we go! 🫣

I feel like I’ve covered most of the basics (ft. one of my fave Ariana Grande songs), but I might do a Q & A in my stories if I missed anything! Thank you all for following, supporting, and warmly embracing me into this little community we’ve built together; I feel like I’ve made some new friends 🩵🫧! It’s been so awesome meeting you all, whether it be here online, through a webinar, in person at SF Climate Week, or through the Climatebase Fellowship! I’m definitely no expert on climate change, nor am I perfect “environmentalist” by any means, but I really appreciate the love you guys have shown for this account 🥰! Here’s to learning and growing together 🌱 while working to protect this amazing little blue marble we call home 🌎.

Happy 2nd birthday to this lil climate account 🥳🧁!

I seriously can’t believe it’s already been 2 years since I decided to embark on this little side-quest, but I’m so glad I did! I love designing content that reflects my personality and my own aesthetic, since as a designer I have to design what fits for the client, but my favorite part of having this account has been all of YOU 🩵! When I decided to make this account, I neverrr expected to meet such kind, supportive, and INSPIRING people 🥹! I love following along with your content and climate journeys as much as I hope you’ve enjoyed following along with mine. I’m so happy to have made some new friends in some of you, and even meeting a few of you in person 🩵! The connections, friendships, and opportunities this account has opened up have been totally unexpected, but also the absolute best.

Cheers to another year of learning, more milestones, and spreading a little climate joy 🌎🌱. Thanks for being a part of this journey 🩵🫧!

September 29th marks the very first time International Employee Climate Action Day is being celebrated 🌟. Today is a day to not only celebrate employees worldwide who are already taking climate action, but also to encourage employees to take action, no matter their profession or workplace - because every job is a climate job!

My advice for anyone starting their climate journey at work or in general would be to not be intimidated! You don’t have to be an expert in all things climate (I’m definitely not 😅!), or be a scientist, nor have “climate” or “sustainability” in your job title to take action and make a difference. And, you most certainly don’t even need to be working at an environmental/climate organization! Climate change impacts us all, so it’s something we should all be actively involved in, whether it be through advocating for realistic sustainability goals at work or taking big and small actions in your personal life. We all have a role to play 🌱🩵🌎🫧.

Friends! For anyone curious about starting their climate journey, or wondering where they might fit within the climate movement, Project Drawdown recently announced a pilot of their new Climate Action Training Program 🥳!

If you’ve been keeping up with my posts and videos, you know I’ve mentioned Project Drawdown before. I’ve gone to some of their events during SF Climate Week 2 years in a row, attended their webinars, and even did a post a while back about their SHIFT program that identifies 5 climate superpowers (without even knowing they were creating a whole training around them 😅!). All that to say, Project Drawdown is a pretty big deal within the climate space, so I’m sure this pilot is going to be amazing!!

Applications are open now, until October 8th, with the training starting on October 13th. This is online and completely FREE!! If you’re interested in climate change at all, and doing something about it, definitely jump on this! Project Drawdown is the absolute BEST!! I’m sad I won’t be able to participate and document it for you guys 🥲, but that leaves more room for someone else who’s completely new to all of this ☺️! Lmk if you apply!! 🫧🌱🩵

Today, early giving officially begins for Earth Gives Day 🎉🌎!

Right now, only 2% of donations go toward organizations working on environmental and climate efforts. Earth Gives Day is a 4-week-long giving period that provides the opportunity for U.S.-based nonprofits that are working to protect the planet to amplify their missions, reach larger audiences, and ultimately receive donations.

Now through October 6th (the official Earth Gives Day), you can support organizations working on important causes like fighting back against the fossil fuel industry, conserving wildlife, or protecting the ocean by donating whatever you can. Now more than ever, these organizations need all the help they can get to continue their important work as this administration continues to sabotage and dismantle their efforts. You’ve got 4 weeks to donate to an organization (or as many as you want!) and help spread the word about Earth Gives Day! Let’s donate what we can to help push climate and environmental philanthropy past 2%! Happy Giving! 🩵🌎🌱

Hello friends 👋🏽🩵🌱, let’s talk sustainable swaps! At this point, we all know how terrible plastic is for the environment, and how hard it is to find something that doesn’t have any plastic in it these days 😩.

I’ve been wanting to curb my plastic usage for a while now, and over the past few months, I’ve slowly but surely been able to make some changes! Before making a swap, I would highly encourage you to use up whatever you have first, do your research, THEN make a change; we don’t want to just throw stuff out and waste it! Also, it’s great if you can find some local options too, so you don’t have to order everything online.

As for my next swap… I’m wondering if maybe I should look into lotion bars 🧐??! I’m curious to know if you guys have made any sustainable swaps, and if you have better recommendations than what I’ve come across; lemme know and happy swapping 🌱🫧🩵

🦈 Happy Shark Week 🦈

Sharks are one of those animals that are feared and misunderstood because of their appearance and how they’re portrayed in the media. This is not me saying go swim with a bunch of sharks 😅, but just know they’re most likely not out to get you.

While sharks are incredibly fierce predators, they also play a critical role in the ocean’s ecosystem by keeping populations in check and stop diseases from spreading by preying on sick/weak fish. Despite all of this, sharks are not immune to threats like overfishing, plastic pollution, and climate change. Shark Week is important because it not only celebrates sharks, but also spotlights conservation efforts being made to protect them and help them thrive.

Happy Shark Week, friends. And remember, for most things, the more you learn about something, the less scary it becomes 🩵🦈. Drop your favorite shark in the comments 🫧

I know this isn’t our typical climate post, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to share this formally, since I’m still pretty shocked… But in a very unexpected, yet equally pleasant surprise, someone anonymously nominated me for the Designity Awards 🎉! The other day, I found out that out of 300+ nominations, I’m part of the 60+ moving forward to the judging round. The Designity Awards are brand new this year (I hadn’t heard of them!) and celebrate creatives with strong creative judgment, originality, innovative thinking, and the effective use of emerging techniques and tools (like AI, even though I’m strongly against it/don’t use it in my work because of its environmental impact).

This was totally unexpected, but I’m very grateful that someone thought enough of me and my work to consider me for a nomination. Whether it be projects for freelance clients, designing for work at @this.is.what.we.did, or creating fun designs for @alyssaonclimate, I’m very thankful to get to combine my love of design and passion for advocating for the planet. We creatives absolutely deserve a place in the climate movement. 🌎🌱

*These are the work examples I submitted since I have no idea where the nomination came from 😅! What I design for work/clients is a totally different aesthetic from what I design for my Instagram… but we’ll see how it goes!

1 - Guide I designed as part of a capstone project while I was in the Climatebase Fellowship. The guide is about sustainable computing and was a resource for an SF Climate Week event in 2025.

2 - Cupcake/post I designed for my own account to celebrate Dr. Jane Goodall on her birthday/Goodall Day

3 - Another post/cupcake designed for World Ocean Day that I’ve posted here before.

No matter the outcome of this nomination, I will continue to be proud of the work I do and thankful for the amazing connections (and friends 🩵!) that I’ve made along this incredible journey. Congrats to my fellow creatives and nominees, and good luck to all! 🌟

Have you ever wondered about where exactly you fit in within the climate movement? Project Drawdown’s SHIFT guide helps you figure the role(s) you play and provides you with serval different actions you can take to make the most impact! If you followed along with my SF Climate Week videos, I learned more about SHIFT at the @projectdrawdown Summit on day 4 (specifically covered in part 2 if you want to check it out!).

Since human beings are multifaceted, it makes sense that we each have a unique combination of roles to contribute to fighting climate change. And those roles can always change at different points in our lives. Not all of us can be climate scientists, but we can attend protests, support organizations fighting climate change, each a more plant-rich diet, or even try our hand at being a “climate influencer” 😉! No matter what your role is, always remember that there’s a place for all of us to do our part for the planet, and that no action is too big or too small. You also don’t need to be an expert; just start somewhere and learn along the way! Imperfect action is a lot better than inaction. 🩵🌱🌎

So what are your “Climate Superpowers”? I got: Citizen, Professional, and Role Model! Head to the link in my bio to explore the SHIFT guide and find out your roles, then come back here and let me know what you got!
