Some sequels coming out today! And a reminder that I actually need to read the Ninth House books and the Academy lol. Also the Museum of Lost Things seems SO interesting and my mini bullet doesn’t do it justice, definitely look it up!

One of my slower reading months! Between travel and getting sick I was taking awhile to get through anything. Maine Characters and beach read are also not my typical reads, and I think they took me a little longer to get through. Beach Read was different than I expected! It dragged sometimes for me (or just felt like over explanatory I guess?) but it was sweet. I think I would read Gus’ books and that should tell you why it wasn’t a perfect fit lol by @alyssawithbooks

Had a fantastic surprise date night at @thelibrarywinebarhtx. The atmosphere was amazing! We got there at opening and I tried the Pink Beret Rosé which was just the right amount of sweet. And the flatbread was perfect to chat over. It was lively but still quiet enough we could have some time to read (and what could be better than that??). Everyone who worked there was so kind and we even got to chatting about the Alchemist. Definitely a spot we’ll be back to!

I was finishing up reading Maine Characters after picking it up for our Maine trip. One of the main characters was a sommelier, so if I couldn’t finish it in Maine then where better than a wine bar?

Fallen for France absolutely going to be one of my September hopefuls. Some great thrillers, mystery’s, and horror in time for fall. Any you’ve got your eyes on?

I did have really high hopes for this book but I think it was a 3 (maybe even 2.5) star read for me. I can’t pin point what exactly made it fall flat, because the individual pieces should’ve made it a perfect read for me. I think part of it was a disconnect with Linú. And while I typically love slice of life and a slow build like the writing here I just never felt very strongly about it or like I couldn’t put it down. Also, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my absolute favorites and I think I went in expecting to get a similar feel with this book, and maybe that hope/comparison let me down. Have you read My Brilliant Friend yet and did it meet your expectations?

A very good trip with some very good reads! Finished My Brilliant Friend and These Summer Storms. Started both Maine Characters and Beach Read and am hoping to have both finished this week!

Not all, but I think some books need a little research pre read. I think when you know a little more going in, you get more coming out. These are some things I went in knowing/researching to get the ✨full experience✨. Have you read My Brilliant Friend yet?

Catching up after the best trip back to the east coast to visit with friends and family. Finished a few books on the way and have plentyyy of thoughts to share (wishing I left a book as DNF). Our first stop was the Cape just for a night, if you’re ever in Dennis/Dennisport here’s what our itinerary looked like!

Brought 6 books in my carry on yet somehow still ended up at the bookstore. Love getting to see local bookstores though, especially when they have section for books that take place in the State! What’s your favorite book store you’ve found on a trip?

⭐️ Are the ones for sure going on my TBR! Some great thrillers/suspense to look forward to this week. The Nobody Code might be my most anticipated of this batch. Any you’ve got your eye on?

Rounding out the last of my July reading posts that I made! Have been in a bit of a slump since I started Duma Key and I think I’m going to DNF it for now (maybe forever).
