Hey there! I’m Aly — the author!

My debut novel, One Mistake, was released July 1, 2025
(and yes, the sequel is already in the works!).

Before I tried to get published, I wrote four full-length novels:
• One as a teenager (filed directly into the trash).
• One that drowned (it’s okay—the characters could barely keep their heads above water anyway; my plot moved too quickly).
• A celebrity-inspired fictional twist (still not sure about the legalities of publishing that).
• And finally, One Mistake — the story that stuck (and got my husband to read his first—and only—romance novel).

I’ve also written several children’s books, including one centered on Down Syndrome and being nonverbal—topics close to my heart.

My neuro-spicy brain is constantly churning with plots, characters, and storylines… which I blame for my sometimes-questionable communication skills. 🤷‍♀️😂

Lynn is moving to Pensacola 👀 and I’ll be heading there soon to scout out her future favorite spots.

One of my favorite parts of writing is pulling in real places—coffee shops, beaches, restaurants—so the story doubles as a mini travel guide with places you could actually visit.

So if you’re local to Pensacola (or have been… or even just visited and found a spot you loved), I’d love your recommendations.

This book put me through the emotional ringer. I wept, raged on Lynn’s behalf, I laughed, and I wept again. There’s so much going on this poor girl’s life which I won’t get into but do make sure you check for triggers. The last couple chapters changed the entire way I viewed the book and I can’t even begin to tell you all without spoiling it, so I won’t. This is a story of a young woman who has been through many hard things and is ultimately just trying to survive on her own strength. It’s a story of a woman who’s also been hurt so deeply by a few individuals that her hurt has turned to hatred and that hatred is directed in the wrong place. Throughout our journey with Lynn we get to see her meet all kinds of people and we get to see her reaction and the aftermath of each encounter. This has honestly been a great reinforcement to my belief that how we treat people in every interaction does matter. Especially those of us who are Christians. We are representatives of our heavenly Father and there’s way too many who have caused others to turn away from God’s Love due to their own spiteful (and sometimes evil) actions.

I don’t typically share triggers because there’s so many different things that can be triggering to people, so I always encourage checking out the author’s page/website but if you can’t them there then do feel free to reach out and I’ll be as spoiler free as possible while making sure you’re informed.

Most all cuss words were censored but there was the word “p*ssed” and while I know a lot of people don’t consider that a curse word, but some do. If you don’t then there’s no language whatsoever ✨

This authors life outside the pages:

It’s no secret I’m an ocean girl. The hot-humid-tepid-water type of ocean girl. Give me sand, sun, and waves and I’ll happily stay outside until my skin blisters.

Yet freezing in the middle of national forest land surrounded by lakes, mountains, and wildlife holds its own kind of beauty and place in my heart.

I didn’t catch any fish this trip but I did capture ALL my kiddos attention when my teen suggested I read a chapter book aloud like I used to when she was little (😳☺️).

Book of choice… A Lifetime of Mistakes.

No I’m not making this up, no I didn’t put them up to it, yes we did find a few errors that I came home and fixed immediately (turns out according to my oldest son you can’t ‘round second base and then steal it’ 🤷‍♀️).

So many highlights of the trip, including hiking 800 yards straight up the side of a steep mountain (we are talking steeper than level 12 on my treadmill!) so my 7 year old could sit on the cliff above the tree line (sadly no pics because my phone was dead by then). But my favorite was watching my hubs repair the trigger on the his muzzleloader his dad made and evenings when he would come back and tell us the days hunting adventures by the light of the fire. What I wouldn’t give to have seen him running down the side of a mountain, crossing a stream and then dropping to his belly to line up the shot with his antique musket (no promises that wont make it into a book one day).

Added bonus God provided meat for the winter and the hubs bagged a nice buck.

(For those if you already asking when the next book comes out… yes i wrote while I was camping)

When was your first time jumping waves? Lynn is off to the beach and jumps for the first time in my new novel ‘A Lifetime of Mistakes’ coming out later this month on September 16th!

Sure… in the book it’s a road trip on a motorcycle…

And no her sister didn’t really go with her, and she didn’t snorkel OR go to Puerto Rico…

BUT… her book did… kinda… I mean the cover is here with me

And yes this is the first reel… and probably the first time in my life I felt old trying to do something IT adjacent 🤣… by @alytheauthor

Cover Reveal!

A Lifetime of Mistakes is a character driven fiction about the younger sister of Beth Stoner in my debut novel One Mistake.

Yes you read that correctly this is book 1.5 not book 2. Lynn had a love story coming but first this girl needs to get some —many— things in life figured out first!

Why 1.5? Because I can. It’s a stand alone novel that can be read with or without reading book 1 or book 2. But mostly because I want to. And I self publish so I can do the things I want that I think are fun 😂 by @alytheauthor
