A universal recommendation is afforded to the extremely human memoir, poetry, stories, journals, thoughts, and feelings of @nakinisowin Billy-Ray Belcourt.

I couldn't reflect on this art in the same mind I usually use to critically reflect after reading books, so I composed poetry in the place of opinion. You can find this reflection of reading, writing, and telling stories based in Canada and the vulnerability, intention, and work that must go into that effort, in the second tab.

I don't yet know how this piece has changed me, as all consideration of human experience and word does, but I am thankful to have been changed by it.

Finished this a week or so back.

A strong, digestible, and accessible read with diverse and distinct men and there are also women in the book, with implied depths that I wish had more space to explore.

With intriguing and alchemical world building, the tale of the many named protagonist brings us through meaningful and dynamic sorrow, pain, triumph, and growth.

A tome to absorb with energy between YA and more exhausting fantasy novels.

While I prefer series books that simultaneously close some plots while leaving others open, this is nonetheless a deep establishing dive into a singular character that sets up many payoffs. I haven't read the second book, but I sincerely hope Patrick Rothfuss finishes the third. There's a good bit worth finishing in here.

Finished Sexuality and Socialism by @sherrytalksback

Published in 2009, it is a devastatingly relevant read in the context of today's aggressive push by oligarchs, corporations, and capital to control narrative, capital, social orders and mores.

It explores, through an evidence-based, critical, educated lens, the strengths, flaws, triumphs, failures, false starts, and lunges forward of progressive and conservative movements to respectively liberate and oppress efforts towards political, economic, and social liberation.

Sherry recognizes the hypocrisy, exclusion, and prejudice that can exist in members of otherwise progressive reformists and revolutionaries, while also offering historical precedent for oppressed groups finding collective commonalities to move towards universal liberation.

Altogether, a stunningly informative and galvanizing read for anyone interested in equity, equality, and progress.
