We both cried when we heard Beyonce sing protector in Paris on the Cowboy Carter tour. We never talked about it, but we knew your time was limited. Mommy you were so strong, it’s crazy. The fact that despite battling stage 4 cancer, your friends were still stunned that I told them your fight was over. In the past year and a half, you’ve taught me what it means to truly live. You went from chemo, to traveling Europe, back to chemo, then packing my apartment up to drive me cross country. I am so grateful that the past year we’ve had more time together than in the past decade. I’m sorry it wasn’t long enough. I am so proud of how hard you fought. I only hope that I take on every hardship with the same level of grace. I love you so much. I’m sorry I didn’t realize our time was being cut so short.

I can’t say I’ll always succeed in this, but I promise I will always try to remember wearing earrings on air.

You’re one of my best friends.

How lucky I am to have a friend who dropped everything to be with me this summer. Even luckier now that I have another excuse to visit Europe.
